Mista C presents his Drum and Bass show, episode 3, on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
DJ Mista C, real name Robert Cullen, is a Drum and Bass DJ from London, the capital of the United Kingdom, with over twenty years of experience as a selector, having started on vinyl turntables at the age of 15. His affection for Drum and Bass became an addiction, and as a teenager he could be found in record shops around London spending his meagre salary on the latest DnB releases.
He later worked at Revolution Records in West London and held residencies at several leading London pirate radio stations in the early 2000s, including Freeze FM, Trilogy FM, Rampage FM and Fire FM. Following his pirate-radio grounding, Mista C secured bookings with some of the biggest promoters in the Drum and Bass scene before teaming up with friends in 2003 to create AIR Promotions and stage their own events in West London.
Mista C then relocated and gained a residency at Es Paradis in Ibiza, playing for Helter Skelter and Innovation, while also appearing alongside Drum and Bass figures including Andy C, Nicky Blackmarket, Phantasy, Ratpack, Hazard, Covert Garden, Skibadee, Shabba, Fearless, Eksman, IC3, Flyte and Rhymestar. At the time of publication, he regularly played the underground clubs of Bangkok, having been based in Thailand for 14 years, and had recently joined Scientific Sound Asia's DJ agency and radio station.
Mista C's Drum and Bass episode 3 opens with Metrik's We Got It in the Enta Bootleg, followed by Ebony Dubsters' Ra in Original Sin's remix on Digital Soundboy Recording Co. Trex's Witness on T x Labmaste and Sub Focus's Solar System on Ram Records establish the Drum and Bass focus before Mampi Swift's Soul in the A M C remix and Krust's Not Necessarily A Man in L Side's remix.
Document One's Vibration on Shogun Audio leads into Bladerunner's The Flying Technique VIP on Formation and Drumsound & Bassline Smith's Cold Turkey in the Tantrum Desire remix for Technique Recordings. Bad Company UK's The Nine on BC Recordings, Distress Signal's Horizon on Rampage and Aries' Herbsmoke in Benny Page's Sub Slayers remix sustain the pace ahead of Turno and Kanine's Polarity on Elevate.
Sub Focus returns with Timewarp VIP on Ram Records, while Clipz's Slippery Slopes on Full Cycle follows the TNT track 2 Degrees in the Dominator and Logan D remix. Mampi Swift's The One in InsideInfo's Charge Recordings remix and Benny Page's Turn Down The Lights in the Benny Page VIP Mix sit before Brockie's Represent in the Dominator remix, Friction's Your Love and MIST's Outerspace on Soul:R.
The middle section turns through Sub Focus's Swamp Thing on Ram Records and Document One's Holy Moly on Shogun Audio, then Serum's Earth Rot in Original Sin's Souped Up Records remix. Bad Company UK's Planet Dust on BC Recordings, FireFox's Buck Rogers in Bladerunner's Philly Blunt Records remix and High Contrast's If We Ever in Unglued's Hospital Records remix keep the selection moving through familiar catalogue material and later versions.
Upgrade's Popular in Friction's UKF Music remix gives way to A.M.C's Clack and NITRO, both on Titan, with DJ Hazard's Killers Don't Die on Playaz between them. Logan D's Rampage on Low Down Deep, Kanine's Headlock on Unleashed and Sub Focus's X-Ray in Metrik's RAM Records remix carry the programme into its final stretch.
