Marco Mei releases tracklist for new radio show

Marco Mei presented his new radio show on Scientific Sound Asia in 2018. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform, connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

At the time, Mei had recently played dates in Japan and the Philippines before travelling to Bali, Indonesia. His Bali itinerary included four appearances across the final weekend of October.

Mei began DJing in Turin in 1991, developing his practice during the formative years of the city’s underground House and Techno culture. He was associated with the Urban People collective, which supported electronic music events in Turin.

An extended residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh became an important part of his international work. He later appeared at venues including Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City.

Those appearances placed his work before different club audiences across Europe and Asia. They also provided a context for a DJ approach informed by dancefloor function and varied underground electronic styles.

In 2009, Mei formed Bicycle Corporation with Italian producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The collaboration has issued more than fifty productions and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno.

Bicycle Corporation’s release catalogue includes work for Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx. The partnership joined Mei’s experience in club programming with Ugliano’s production work, creating a studio project rooted in underground electronic music.

Based in Taipei, Mei works across a wider South East Asian network developed through clubs, events and regional electronic music activity. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while his weekly show is broadcast through its radio station.

Marco Mei’s 2018 new radio show opens with Booka Shade’s Line On Fire on Armada Music Albums, establishing a firm Tech House foundation. Brainbug’s Nightmare in the Purple Pill 2018 edit and Binary Finary’s 1999 in the Kamillo Sanclemente remix follow before DJ K1 featuring Jacjie Queens brings The Reason from Defected Records into Electro territory.

Energy 52’s Tale of Us Renaissance remix of Cafe’ del Mar, released through Urban, introduces Trance before Faithless’s ItaloBros remix of Insomnia on Cheeky Records raises the main-floor emphasis. Fur Coat’s Monday on Balance Music then brings Peak Time Techno into the sequence, followed by Hans Zimmer’s Audio State edit of Interstellar.

Made By Pete featuring Jem Cooke’s Solomun remix of So Long on Crosstown Rebels leads into Julian Wassermann’s Manie on WM Germany, giving the middle section a Melodic House and Techno focus. Shit Robot’s Feels Real on DFA ([PIAS]Co-Op) interrupts that mood before Steve Bug and Cle’s The Bark Side Of The Moog on Rejected returns to clipped club rhythm.

Tuff City Kids featuring Joe Goddard bring Reach Out from Permanent Vacation back to Electro, while Tom Pooks and Joy Kiticonti’s Climb arrives through Family Piknik Music. Shan’s Work It on Running Back introduces House Music, with Ogris Debris’s Adesse Version remix of Lazer Gun on The Enigma Corporation extending the warmer club direction.

Dusky’s The Captain provides a further melodic turn before Niels Van Gogh’s Solomun remix of Pulverturm, issued by NITRON music, adds mainstage scale to the late section. Nils Hoffmann’s Tom Zeta remix of Moan on Dear Deer restores the melodic House and Techno thread without losing the set’s club focus.

RUFUS close with Sasha’s remix of Innerbloom on Last Night On Earth, giving the programme a spacious final resolution. The ending draws together the earlier Tech House, Electro, Trance, main-floor Trance, Peak Time Techno, Melodic House and Techno, House Music and mainstage material in a measured late-set finish.

Binary Finary’s 1999 follows in the Kamilo Sanclemente remix, moving the early section into Progressive House with a classic trance reference reshaped for a deeper club setting.

DJ K1 and Jackie Queens bring House Music into the sequence with The Reason, before Energy 52’s Café Del Mar receives the Tale Of Us Renaissance remix treatment.
