Marco Mei presented his 11th show of 2019 on Scientific Sound Asia, originally aired on 18 May 2019. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
The Italian DJ and producer began DJing in Turin in 1991, during the formative years of the city’s underground House and Techno culture. His involvement with the Urban People collective placed him within a local network that organised events and supported electronic music activity.
Marco Mei developed his experience through House Music and Techno events before establishing an international profile as a club DJ. Over the years, he shared line-ups and turntables with artists including Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon, Harry Romero, Funk D’Void and Sander Kleinenberg.
A residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh marked an important period in his career and led to further international appearances. His venue history includes Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Italian producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The project brought together their experience as DJs and producers for a catalogue centred on underground electronic music.
Bicycle Corporation has released more than fifty productions and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno. Its confirmed label catalogue includes Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx.
Marco Mei’s solo work draws on a broad club background while keeping a clear focus on dancefloor structure and selection. His radio sets connect established House and Techno influences with contemporary material from across the electronic spectrum.
Based in Taipei, Marco Mei works across a wider South East Asian network developed through clubs, events and regional electronic music activity. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, and his weekly show is broadcast through its radio station.
DJ Marco Mei’s 2019 episode 11 on Scientific Sound Asia opens with Gerry Read’s It'll All Be Over in the DJ Koze remix, a Deep House release on Pampa Records. Mark Ronson’s Late Night Feelings follows in the Krystal Klear remix before Tiger & Woods bring Machete from Soul Clap Records into a Nu-Disco and Disco-leaning opening passage.
Man2.0’s Space Music on Melomana introduces the Indie Dance thread, while Agoria and Noémie’s Remedy appears in the Denis Horvat remix. David Harness and Roland Clark then bring The Deejay’s An Alien in the FNX Omar remix from Papa Records, shifting the programme towards Afro House.
Luciano and Katy Prado return the mix to House Music with Canción Mapuche on Cadenza Lab, followed by Black Cock’s Get Ready. Bass Is Base’s The Spirit on Hi-Bias Records and De La Soul’s A Rollerskating Jam Named Saturday in the George Feely Keep It Funky mix keep the middle of the set rooted in house rhythm.
95 North’s Let Me Tell Ya in the Maslow Unknown edit extends that club-focused section before Benjamin Fröhlich’s The Big Sun on Permanent Vacation returns to Indie Dance. Unknown vs. Hamilton Bohannon add Let's Do It, giving the sequence another Disco reference before the later shift in intensity.
Mighty Mouse’s The Spirit in the Mark Broom remix, released through Glitterbox Recordings, opens a firmer late section. Mark Broom follows with New Life in the Dave Simon edit on Proper Techno Tunes, bringing Peak Time Techno into focus alongside DJ Rush’s Get On Up in the Dave Simon edit.
Space Motion’s Galaxy on Freegrant Music moves the episode towards Progressive House, before Zombie Nation and Craig Williams bring Would You on Club Sweat into Tech House. Drax then contributes Amphetamine on Trope Recordings, introducing a main-floor Trance reference with an acid-leaning techno edge.
Digitalism’s Zdarlight on Lektroluv brings the selection back towards House Music before Laser’s Laser on Decca adds a tribal club entry. John Davis & The Monster Orchestra close episode 11 with Love Magic on SAM Records, returning the final moments to Disco.
