Marco is an Italian DJ and producer with more than 25 years of experience. His early musical background included Afrobeat and the emergence of electronic music.
His DJ career began during the 1990s, and he has spent more than two decades playing records at festivals and clubs around the world. He has shared stages with international DJs including Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
At the start of the millennium, he secured a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm el-Sheikh. He later performed as a DJ and producer at venues including Arcan in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk, where he also shared stages with notable artists.
Stefano Ugliano and Marco Mei formed an ensemble known as Bicycle Corporation. Together, they have released more than 50 tracks and remixes, gaining support from a wide range of DJs.
Marco has established a strong presence in Taipei, Taiwan's music scene. He has spent much of his time performing at venues across the city.
As a DJ based in Asia, Marco is part of Scientific Sound Asia's community of DJs and producers. His broadcasts contribute another perspective to the station's electronic music programming.
His weekly show features Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. Based in Taipei and active across a wider South East Asian network, he is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency and broadcasts weekly on its radio station.
Marco Mei's February 2020 show, episode 179 opens with Four Tet's Baby on Text Records, bringing in a UK Garage edge. Doctor Abstract follows with Struck On Jazz on Schema Records, before Esme's A Beautiful Thing on Birkin Records introduces House Music.
Herbie Hancock's Mighty Mouse edit of You Bet Your Love leads into Oliver Dollar and Daniel Steinberg's Testified in the Scan 7 extended mix. Roog's Mirko & Meex remix of Kantuc on In It Together Records and Piem's Freak Out on Crosstown Rebels keep the early club rhythm in place.
Alan Fitzpatrick and Patrice Rushen's Fitzy's Fully Charged Mix of Haven't You Heard on FFRR is followed by Adina Howard's Opolopo remix of Mind Reader on Reel People Music. BandDos featuring Irepelusa then brings the Afro remix of Pan Con Miel before Hurlee's La Touche on Suol shifts towards Nu-Disco.
Etienne de Crécy's Math on Pixadelic. returns to House Music, while Glennebassen's Hold On on miniMarket provides the programme's Indie Dance entry. Laesh's So Free So Good on My Vision Records then brings Peak Time Techno into the middle of the selection.
Lex & Wood and Return Of The Jaded's True Love moves into Tech House before Harry Romero's It's You on Crosstown Rebels restores a house-led feel. Sven Tasnadi's Unoma on Voltaire Music and Rubén de Madame's Is Perfect on Lokabarcelona Records tighten the later section through Tech House.
Simon Kidzoo and Elliot Fitch's Papi Oi on Stashed, Mihalis Safras's Soul 2 Soul on Material and Cloonee's Like What keep the late sequence focused on direct club material. KC Lights' SOL on Toolroom follows before Chicane's trance classic Saltwater appears in the Senses Of Mind edit.
