Marco Mei presents his 2019 episode 32 on Scientific Sound Asia, bringing together favourite selections and records he regularly played during that year. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Marco is an Italian DJ and producer with more than two decades of experience, whose formative listening included Afrobeat. As electronic music emerged, he began his DJ career during the 1990s.
Over two and a half decades, Marco has played festivals and underground nightclubs around the world. His appearances have included sets alongside Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon, Sander Kleinenberg, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D’Void.
In the early years of the millennium, he held a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh. He subsequently performed at underground venues including Arcan in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk.
Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The pair have released more than 50 tracks and remixes supported by international DJs.
Based in Taipei, Marco works within a wider South East Asian network of clubs, events and electronic music activity. He broadcasts a weekly show through Scientific Sound Asia and is available for bookings through the agency.
His weekly selections range across Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. That breadth gives this 2019 edition room for older club records alongside contemporary productions and edits.

Master Plan's Electric Baile in the 1985 Commercial Mix follows on Trax Records, adding an archival House Music entry with Freestyle and Electro-funk elements.
Tyree Cooper's Da Butt 95' on Cosmic Records and Danny Tenaglia's Don't Turn Your Back on Hot Creations sustain the house-focused opening. Alan Dixon's Motel 4000 on True Romance Records then shifts the mood towards Nu-Disco.
David Jackson's Broken Heart on Frank Music introduces Indie Dance, followed by Gerd Janson and Underground System's Just A Place remix on Soul Clap Records. The latter brings an Afrobeat-influenced combination of Afrobeat, new wave and house, before Grant Nelson and Solara's Last Dance on House Place Records returns to a direct house rhythm.
Dan Shake's Daisys Dance on Sulta Selects Silver Service leads into Donna Summer's MacArthur Park in the DJ Meme Remix, where the scale of the vocal gives the programme a dramatic turn. Jerk Boy's Satellite in the Art of Tones Disco Mix holds that line before Joe Smooth's Promised Land in the Groove Armada Remix on Armada Music brings together Disco, Afro House and gospel-rooted Chicago house.
Josh One's Contemplation in the Philip Z Extended Bootleg on DFTD moves into Tech House, while Louie Vega, The Martinez Brothers and Marc E. Bassy bring a warmer vocal house note through Let It Go on Defected. Paul Johnson's Honest and ALISHA's Existence on Nothing Else Matters keep the late middle section club-focused before Out of Orbit and Shpongle's No Disco in the Red Axes Remix on Shamanic Tales introduces a Psychedelic detour.
Tin Man's Nonneo in the Marco Faraone Floor Mix on Global A supplies a sharper Breaks passage before Middle and Jaguara's Voon adds a melodic house contrast. Depeche Mode's World In My Eyes in the Baunder Edit closes on a Synth Pop reference and Dance Music finish, placing a 1990 recording beside the episode's newer electronic material.
