Joshua announces track-list for new shows 5th of October 2020

DJ Joshua presents Floating Beats 451 and Velvety Elements 023, a two-part programme on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

DJ Joshua, a Portuguese music lover whose actual name is Joshua Mar, is recognised for his passion for music and extensive record collection. From Évora, Portugal, he specialises in electronic music and has an interest in House, Drum and Bass, Chill-out and Techno.

Through his weekly programme, Floating Beats, he explores progressive, mellow, melodic and Techno sounds. In the second hour, he presents Velvety Elements, a radio show dedicated to the more soothing facets of house music.

He started his career as a DJ in the early nineties, first experimenting with mixes and collecting vinyl records. He began by taking part in local radio shows, presenting electronic music genres and arranging events with his peers.

As his interest in music grew, he observed Portugal's expanding rave scene and recognised radio's value in reaching listeners. He later took a break from the music industry when his daughter was born.

A couple of years later, his passion for music led him to introduce a new radio programme, Floating Beats Sessions. The Floating Beats podcast is aired on radio stations worldwide.

He describes the show as follows: 'Music is an art form that combines various elements to evoke emotions and get the body moving... It's a space where you can lose yourself in ethereal sounds that will eventually connect with you... Enjoy!' The description sets out the show's emphasis on emotional connection and movement.

Driven by a passion for House music, DJ Joshua started Velvety Elements to honour the genre's emotional depth. Through his podcasts, he explores the subtleties of House music on global House and Techno radio stations, including Scientific Sound Asia.

During his regular broadcasts, Joshua explores House Music and Techno sub-genres including Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit Techno, Soulful House, Progressive House, Techno, Vocal House and Melodic Techno. These programmes place his selections across several strands of electronic music.

In the first hour, Floating Beats 451 opens with Livio & Roby's and Hector's Mound on Desolat, followed by Josh Butler's Sinawava on Variety Music, establishing a Tech House foundation. DJ VIBE's Special on Discotexas then brings in House Music character.

Spinky's Nobody on Datagroove Music moves the first hour towards Deep Tech House. Soul Mekanik's Thin Red Man Mix of I'll Call U, released on Boxed, follows with a Progresive House selection.

Danny Tenaglia's Paradise Mix of Don't Turn Your Back on Hot Creations returns to House Music. Danny Howells' Saalim Remix of Right Off on Dig Deeper introduces Indie Dance before Matthias Meyer and Patlac's Nick Curly Remix of Salt City on Liebe Detail brings back Tech House.

DJ Sneak, Tripmastaz and Rare Two Inc.'s Last Tango In Yo Ass on Cuttin' Headz keeps the first hour in House Music territory. JR From Dallas' Sebb Junior Remix of Downtown City on Myriad Black Records closes this section with Deep House.

In the second hour, Velvety Elements 023 begins with Okain's Le Poivrier on Pleasure Zone, returning to Deep Tech House. Loco Dice and Eddie Fowlkes follow with It's a Thief on En Couleur, bringing the programme back towards Tech House.

Markus Homm's Some Day on Orpheus Recordings gives the second hour a Deep House focus. Laurent Maldo's Franck Bouly Remix of Rainy Day on Brique Rouge then moves into House Music.

Daniel Steinberg's Why Do You Hate Me on Arms & Legs holds the House Music direction. Joeski and Miguel Lobo's Hook Me Up, featuring Shyam P and released on Variety Music, adds a further Tech House cut.

Rob Mirage's Keep On Truckin and Sean Miller's Joeski Remix of The Good Life, both on Stereo Productions Catalog, sustain the Deep House feel. DJ Sneak's The Difference leads into Platzdasch and Dix's Timeless on Gents & Dandy's before Ray Mono's Doin' It Right on META brings the programme to a House Music close.
