DJ Joshua's real name is Joshua Mar, and he is a Portuguese music lover and collector, traits that epitomise his character. Hailing from Evora in Portugal, electronic music is the most captivating part of his collection, expanding his interest in styles from House and Drum and Bass to Chill-out and Techno.
His weekly show Floating Beats allows him to experiment with progressive, calmer and melodic sounds alongside Techno. In its second hour, Velvety Elements is dedicated to softer House Music with a wider range of elements.
He started as a disc jockey, making his first mixes in the early nineties, and became an avid vinyl collector. He began on local radio shows playing almost every genre of electronic music and performed at House Music and Techno events planned with friends.
As his interest grew, Portugal's rave scene was on the rise and he recognised radio's ability to draw an audience. After the birth of his daughter, he took a break from the music scene, then returned after several years of fatherhood to create Floating Beats Sessions.

In his weekly shows, Joshua delves into House Music and Techno sub-genres, frequently featuring Deep House, Tech House, Melodic House, Detroit House, Soulful House, Progressive House, Techno, Vocal House and Melodic Techno. His podcasts have been broadcast on House Music and Techno radio stations internationally.
In the first hour, Floating Beats opens with Tripmastaz's DC Dub (Untitled 4) before GHTSG's Flashback brings Deep House from Deep Clicks. After Burn's Apocalyptic Love follows with Progressive House on MNL.
Mihai Popoviciu's Travelling Without Moving on Still Hot and Vince Watson's Into The Night on Yoruba Records keep the hour within Deep House. Secret Cinema and Point Blank (NL)'s Joris Voorn remix of Meng's Theme, released on Green, introduces Peak Time Techno.
Biesmans' Menneke on Selador shifts towards Indie Dance, before Karim Sahraoui's Funk In Heaven on Blue Arts Music returns to Peak Time Techno. Ian O'Donovan's Flight of the Red Kites, issued by When We Dip Records, brings in Melodic House and Techno.
Kydus' Loco & Jam remix of Deliver Me on WTF! Music keeps the techno emphasis in place. Will Easton's VONDA7 remix of Kaleidoscope on Street Tracks moves into House Music, while Lake Avalon's Hercules on Atmosphere Records closes the first hour with Melodic House and Techno.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements begins with Damian Rausch's All Right on Cyanide, followed by Phable's Frederick Alonso remix of Tribal Tech on NYON Records. Studioheist's The Last Time on NuPanda Records holds the opening run in Deep House.
Pablo Rez's Reclaim on Snatch! Records returns to House Music before The Mekanism and Arno's Signs on Robsoul Recordings introduces Funky House. Damian Rausch's Messenger, released through House Cookin Records, brings the selection back to Deep House.
Eat Dust and Kelson's Amnesia on Plastik Galaxy moves the hour into Tech House, with Frederick & Kusse's Feel The Spirit on Saved Records following the same direction. Hideo Kobayashi's Kaze then provides a further selection before the final stretch.
Andrew Meller's Riaz Dhanani remix of Take A Ride on Noexcuse Records keeps the closing stretch in Tech House. Danny Snowden's In All Of Life on Whoyostro returns to Deep House, before Jesse Calosso and Bas Ibellini featuring Sheff close with the Ben Rau Meta Mix of Ride The Rhythm on Cuttin' Headz.
