DJ Joshua presents the 29 March 2021 editions of Floating Beats and Velvety Elements on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform that supports advancing electronic music across Asia and internationally.
Joshua Mar, also known as DJ Joshua, hails from Évora, Portugal, and is a devoted electronic music enthusiast. His collection includes vinyl records and digital tracks, while his love of Techno, House Music, Drum and Bass and Chillout has driven his DJ career.
During the 1990s, DJ Joshua played a crucial role in Portugal's rave scene despite opposition to rave music at the time. He promoted his music through local radio shows and events, earning acclaim both locally and internationally.
After a short break to prioritise family matters, DJ Joshua returned to music through his radio programmes. Floating Beats covers a broad range of electronic music, including tracks by Man Power, Steve Kelley and Layton Giordani.
The programme brings together Techno and House music in a varied selection. During the second hour, Velvety Elements explores the soulful side of Deep House, with artists including Oden & Fatzo, Henrik Villard and Black Loops.

In the second hour, Velvety Elements begins with Oden & Fatzo's Archie Hamilton remix of Taboulet Malgache on MicroHertz. B&S Concept's Destination Y on Gents & Dandy's follows, keeping the opening of this programme focused on low-slung house rhythms.
Henrik Villard's You Say on Feedasoul Records and Kevin Yost's Messing With My Soul on I Records deepen the soulful side of the hour. Their placement gives the programme a warmer direction without leaving its club-centred approach.
Paulo Rocha's Dreamwalker, in the Dancin In Our Sleep Mix on Black Vinyl Records, leads into Sean McCabe and Lem Springsteen's Connection on Good Vibrations Music. Black Loops and Sandile then bring Oy on Neovinyl Recordings into the sequence, retaining the second hour's deep-house emphasis.
Dimmish's Ramen on MicroHertz and Pedro Costa's WHO on H.A.S.H.T.A.G. return to stripped-back deep-tech movement near the close. Danny Tape's Ross Waldemar remix of Let Yourself Go on Groove Is Our Business ends Velvety Elements with an upbeat House finish.
