DJ Joshua presents Floating Beats and Velvety Elements in this Scientific Sound Asia track-list announcement for 24 August 2020. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
DJ Joshua's real name is Joshua Mar, and he is a Portuguese music lover and collector from Evora whose interest in electronic music shapes his character. His collection spans House, Drum and Bass, Chill-out and Techno, with electronic music holding a central place in his listening.
He began working as a disc jockey in the early nineties, making his first mixes and becoming an avid vinyl collector. He also appeared on local radio shows covering almost every electronic-music style and played at House Music and Techno events arranged with friends.
As Portugal's rave scene grew, Joshua recognised radio as a way to reach an audience for the music that absorbed him. After the birth of his daughter, he stepped away from the music scene before returning a few years later to establish Floating Beats Sessions.
The weekly Floating Beats programme gave him space for progressive, calmer, melodic and Techno material. Velvety Elements was subsequently added as a second-hour programme focused on softer, deeper and soulful House Music.
His podcasts have been broadcast by House Music and Techno radio stations internationally. In closing, Joshua has this to say 'Music is an art form. It is the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body, enjoy it.'
In the first hour, Floating Beats opens with Dachshund's Major Shift on Gruuv, introducing a Deep House foundation. Rone's Laurent Garnier remix of Mirapolis, released through fabric Records, then brings House Music into the programme.
Brame & Hamo's Voiski remix of Waves Reach on Feel My Bicep introduces a Breakbeat turn. Brutkho follows with the F.E.M. remix of Bhekamba on Redlight Music, moving into Deep Tech House.
Ian O'Donovan's Tribe on Einmusika Recordings brings Melodic House and Techno to the first hour. Zacharias Tiempo's Petar Dundov remix of Knock on Dear Deer raises the intensity with Peak Time Techno.
Soren Aalberg's Memorial Home remix of Read Minds on Segment Recordings sustains the Peak Time Techno focus. Frazi.er closes the Floating Beats selection with Symposium on Motech Records, keeping the first hour rooted in Techno.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements starts with Marst's Classic on King Street Sounds, returning to House Music. Petit Beurre's Budha on Motech Records adds a Peak Time Techno edge before the programme settles back into its deeper direction.
Willie Graff and Tuccillo's Do It on Circus Company brings Deep House into the hour. Kreutziger's Kreta on YAYA London follows with Deep Tech House detail.
Lauren Lo Sung's Hso on Lolife keeps the second programme in Deep Tech House territory. Okain's Delair on Talman Records and Johnny Da Cruz's Forteba remix of It's All About on Deep Site Digital move through Deep House.
Manuold's Politics Of Dancing remix of May on Esuoh returns to House Music, followed by Andre Butano and Nico Ferrada's Mathias Kaden NYC Beats remix of I Am on Posay Music. Fizzikx's Platzdasch & Dix remix of The Warning on Moiss Music Black, Franck Roger's Sumbar on Real Tone Records and Stranger Tourists' Borderline on Suprematic bring Velvety Elements to a Deep House finish.
