DJ Joshua, also known as Joshua Mar, is a dedicated collector of electronic music from Évora, Portugal. His collection ranges from vinyl records to digital tracks and demonstrates his commitment to the music he plays.
His interest in electronic music, particularly Techno, House Music, Drum and Bass and Chillout, has informed his work as a DJ. In the 1990s, he contributed to Portugal’s rave scene at a time when rave music faced social resistance.
He persisted in sharing music through local radio programmes and events, gaining recognition in his local community and beyond. Following a brief hiatus to focus on family, he returned to his musical work and launched his radio shows.
In the first hour, Floating Beats presents deeper, progressive and underground electronic music, including selections by DJ Rolando, Booka Shade and Satoshi Fumi. The programme moves through Techno and House-oriented material without limiting itself to one approach.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements turns towards the soulful side of Deep House, with artists including Detlef, Darius Syrossian and Gene Farris. It foregrounds the emotional depth and complexity of Deep House music.

In the first hour, Floating Beats opens with Budakid and Sterioa’s Anesthesia in Ian O’Donovan’s remix on When We Dip Records, establishing a Melodic House and Techno foundation. Luke Brancaccio and Simon Berry’s Yotto remix of I Hear This on Bedrock Records brings in Progressive House detail.
Booka Shade’s Lust 2.1 on Bedrock Records returns to melodic house and techno, while Micke’s Charlie May remix of Pulse on Pro B Tech Music sustains the progressive house thread. These early selections give the first hour a measured club focus before its tougher material arrives.
Bushwacka!’s remix of Healer on Ultra and Lee Van Dowski’s Mirage 4 on Selador keep the melodic house and techno emphasis in place. Da Mike Lazarusman’s The Thing follows before Satoshi Fumi’s Les Ailes Du Cygne on Unknown Season introduces a deeper house texture.

Caravaca’s Rasca & Pica on Plastik Galaxy holds the Tech House pace, while Danny Howells’ Mallets on Variety Music revisits Melodic House and Techno. The contrast keeps the hour warm and club-focused while allowing the selections to change shape.
Eat Dust’s Love & Sound on Bonzai Back Catalogue leads into Steve Lawler and MC Johnny Def’s Dub Mix of People on Truesoul. Pedro Costa’s Fhaken and Apolo Fever remix of Portugal on Habitat, Josh Butler’s Right Time on Solid Grooves Records and Gene Farris’ New Jack City on Sola bring Velvety Elements to a firm Tech House finish.
