Jonni Hey of Tribal Fusion presents Tribal Fusion 05 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Jonni, who hails from Wakefield in the north of England, UK, has performed as a DJ and promoted dance events for almost 30 years, beginning in the early 1990s rave scene. His highlights include playing alongside Seb Fontaine and Richie Fingers at the Rocket in London, as well as appearances at Megatripolis, London, and Notting Hill Carnival for Pendragon.
Jonni then moved to Venezuela for three years, where he created full-moon beach parties, played live on La Karibena radio station and its festival for 6,000 attendees, and had his mix played on La Mega, Venezuela's number-one radio station. He later moved to Mallorca, Spain, where he played in various pre-club bars and at private villa events.
After his time in South America and Spain, Jonni relocated to Koh Phangan, Thailand, where he has been settled since around 2006. In Koh Phangan, Jonni creates monthly conscious dance events and also spent a year as resident VJ at the Half Moon Festival.
Jonni's House Music styles vary, and he regularly plays Funky, Groovy, Uplifting, Afro/Tribal, Old Skool and Progressive House. At the time of publication, he was a resident at Rise Ecstatic Dance at Pyramid Yoga, Koh Phangan, and co-hosted Evolve events, Pulse Pool Parties and Yogasmic Boat parties.
Jonni Hey's Tribal Fusion 05 episode opens with Simbad, RoneeDeep and Ammo Moses's Time Off (Roneedeep Minimal Mix), a Deep House release on Atjazz Record Company. Jon Gurd's Lion on Anjunadeep then brings Melodic House and Techno into the programme.
Calixte and TRIBU's Sweet Disposition (Vijay & Sofia Extended Mix) on Ego and Yarni and Alexandra Pride's Spirit Animal on You Plus One establish the Organic House passage. Alexey Lisin and Alexandra Pride's Try My Soul (Lisin Remix), released through Bonzai Progressive, shifts towards Progressive House, while Mockbeat and Alexandra Pride's Frozen Towers on Submarine Vibes follows.
Momo Khani and Meindel's Dancing Clouds on Deepalma sits alongside Landhouse and Sima Aava's Wellworld (UNDERHER Remix) on IAMHER. Sarkis Mikael and Nhii's Oasis on Kotori leads into Tomy Wahl and Alain Fanegas's Kendra on Inhome Music, an Afro House selection.
Alessio Serra's Jungle Flute on La Mishka and Paul Deep (AR)'s Native on Serendeep keep the progressive emphasis in place. Age Of Love's The Age Of Love (Steve Gerrard Wrecked Angle Mix), issued through Armada Music Albums, introduces a Dance - Techno turn.
Jerome Isma-Ae and Alastor's Tiger (Taglo Extended Remix) on JEE Productions (Armada) returns to progressive territory. Zatonsky and Alexandra Pride's Mad Array on Bonzai Progressive follows with a deeper house finish before the final pair of records.
Blaze, Arnold Jarvis and UDAUFL's Make The Time (Andrea Curato Afro Latin Flavour Remix) supplies the penultimate selection. Minako & the Lovebirds' Delusions (Larse Mix) on Teardrop Recordings closes Tribal Fusion 05 with its deep house focus.
