Jonni Hey of Tribal Fusion presents Tribal Fusion 03 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences in India, China, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, the Philippines, the rest of Asia and internationally.
Originally from Wakefield in northern England, Jonni has performed as a DJ and promoted dance events for almost 30 years, beginning in the early 1990s rave scene. His highlights include playing alongside Seb Fontaine and Richie Fingers at the Rocket in London, as well as appearances at Megatripolis, London, and Notting Hill Carnival for Pendragon.
Jonni spent three years in Venezuela, where he created full-moon beach parties, played live on La Karibena radio station and performed at its festival for 6,000 attendees. His mix was also played on La Mega, described as Venezuela's number-one radio station, before he moved to Mallorca, Spain, to play pre-club bars and private villa events.
After South America and Spain, Jonni relocated to Koh Phangan, Thailand, where he has been based since around 2006. There he creates monthly conscious dance events and spent a year as resident VJ at the Half Moon Festival.
Jonni's house music styles include funky, groovy, uplifting, Afro and tribal, old-school and progressive approaches. At the time of publication, he was a resident at Rise Ecstatic Dance at Pyramid Yoga, Koh Phangan, and co-hosted Evolve events, Pulse Pool Parties and Yogasmic Boat Parties.
Jonni Hey's Tribal Fusion 03 episode opens with Joe T Vannelli and Csilla's Play With Vannelli feat. Csilla on Café Del Mar Music, setting a House Music foundation. Sadhu Sensi, Radiant Tribe and Loch Kelly follow with Heart Mind feat. Loch Kelly on Zolotaya Orda, while Devillas brings Unstoppable Passion from Wellness Life Records into Electronica.
The Oddness keeps the electronic focus in place through Red Dust on Sofa Beats before Menachem 26's Tek arrives via Kamai Music. That latter selection introduces the measured pace of Downtempo without breaking the set's flowing character.
Valeron's Delos on Bercana Music, Ruveni's DJ Khaikhan remix of Luma on Harabe and No:mad's Talay Sai on Lump Records shape an Organic House passage. Prop & Ganda then bring Bigote, released by Glory Hill Studio, into an Afro House direction.
Block & Crown and Marc Rousso's Freak It & Say It (Club Mix) on Rawtone Black and Simon Fava and Yvvan Back's El Rumba on Tactical Records add Funky House energy. Charles Pierre's Iglesias 2020 rework of Euphoria on Distance Music then lowers the temperature with Deep House detail.
Vaudafunk's Back In Paradise on Chopshop gives the later section a Nu-Disco lift before Zakes Bantwini and Nana Atta bring Amanga feat. Nana Atta, in its Europe Edit, from MoBlack Records. Joe T Vannelli and Hot Since 82 then return with The End feat. Csilla on Moda Black, introducing a firmer Tech House edge.
De'Lacy's Deep Dish remix of Hideaway on Velcro House, Gat Decor's Naked Mix of Passion on Addictive and Gregor Salto's Verão on SPRS return to house-rooted material. Sweetpower's Happy Days on Deepalma keeps the dancefloor focus warm before Jerome Isma-Ae and Alastor close with Taglo's extended remix of Tiger on JEE Productions (Armada), a Progressive House finish.
