Gerard, also known as Tim Jones of DeviceRATT, presents The Hit List episode 17 with guest DJ Hugh Def on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an English-language electronic music radio station for Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the rest of Asia, as well as a promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Gerard, who was based in Angeles City in the United States, is a producer and DJ with a defined passion for electronic music and an individual production style. At the time of publication, he was an emerging international talent seeking to support House Music through his DJing and creativity.

At the time of publication, Gerard was resident in China and was an artist with Scientific Sound Asia’s DJ agency, with regular performances planned across South East Asia. He also had a role with Brasbeat, Latin America’s first and only digital source for electronic music, and hosted a regular podcast and mix show featuring his charted music.

This show’s guest DJ, Hugh Def [Vision Collective Recordings, Mood24], hails from Cork, Ireland. He is one half of Jazz House duo Motiva and also releases quirky House music under his own name.

Hugh has played festivals and club nights around Ireland and South East Asia, earning a reputation for selecting funky, groovy and individual cuts from a broad range of dance sub-genres. He was resident DJ at T&R Saigon, where he played House and Disco before moving to Hanoi and later relocating to Ireland.

Hugh’s catalogue includes his latest Deep House tracks, with The Gambler described as an atmospheric, deep and jazzy production with a solid groove. Passing By is a mellower, laid-back track with subtle sounds and tones suited to late-night sessions, while the playlist below represents his style of play.

Gerard’s The Hit List 17 guest edition with Hugh Def opens with Giancarlo Zara’s SuperMan (Mata Jones & Alfrenk Remix) on Klap Music and Lampe’s Dry Ice on Subios Records, establishing a Deep Tech House foundation. KAMADEV’s Break Through on Voltaire Music then introduces the melodic detail of Melodic House and Techno.

Freak The Disco’s Phytoplankton precedes Cantos’ B Street Boogie on LTHM and Kostas Georgoudis’ Jena on Sub Reaktion. Mark Alow’s White Tusk and Jonathan Kaspar’s Khaya lead into Kevin Yost’s Corfu Night Beats on TSOY, where the set settles into Deep House.

Space Dimension Controller’s Petrichor on Royal Oak brings in Electro, followed by Move D and Pete Namlook’s Nite Out on Fax +49-69/450464 and its measured Techno character. Varhat’s B1 gives way to IULY.B’s Spaceport on Constant Sound, bringing the programme into Tech House territory.

Anton Pau’s P Loop (Alexander Kyosev Interpretation) is followed by Hart & Neenan’s Catch 22 (Mr. Deka Spacetravel Mix) on Downhill Music, returning to the set’s deep-tech focus. Zendid’s Understlite then makes space for Oshana’s Day 21 and Vinyl Speed Adjust’s Retro on Visionquest, preserving the club-centred momentum.

Varhat’s Travelling introduces a more open House Music feel before East End Dubs’ Do Dis Ting on East End Dubs Vinyl narrows the focus through Minimal patterns. Ben Rau’s Forme on Drumma Records and Mike Sharon’s Space Ride on EWax bring the selection back towards deep house textures.

BRYZ’s Neptune on Esente Records adds Electronica before Chymera’s Episode on Cocoon Recordings raises the intensity with Peak Time Techno. Matthew Dekay and Lee Burridge’s Lost In A Moment (Dixon Rework) on Innervisions softens that pressure, and Carbon Based Lifeforms’ Betula Pendula on Leftfield Records closes with Ambient detail.
