DJ Joshua presents the Floating Beats and Velvety Elements programmes on Scientific Sound Asia, with tracklists for both selections. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter that also operates as a music-news platform, connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
DJ Joshua, whose real name is Joshua Mar, has built an extensive electronic music library that reflects his appreciation of diverse styles, particularly Techno. He is based in Portugal and draws on a long-standing interest in electronic music.
His interest in electronic music developed in the early 1990s alongside the rise of Portugal’s rave scene, and he shared that enthusiasm on local radio while organising events. He recognised music’s ability to build community and became an active figure in the local scene.
After a period focused on raising a family, DJ Joshua returned to music and launched Floating Beats as a weekly radio show. The programme has received recognition internationally.
"Music is an art form," he reflects. "It’s the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body... Enjoy it.”
Floating Beats opens with Drew Dapps and Womack’s Chaise Lounge on Street Habitat, establishing a Deep Tech House foundation. Satoshi Tomiie and Tuccillo follow with Do It on Holic Trax, while Alex Pervukhin’s Love At The First Sight on Rawax and Luis Bravo and Daniel de Roma’s Timbers on TRAX. keep the early section focused.
Evan Marc’s Centigrade on SNAFU introduces Tech House before Dave Mech’s Viewe on Metrohm raises the intensity. Sibling and Drhamer’s Spectral on Newrhythmic Records and Andre Kronert’s The Mask on Teksupport Records place the first hour in Peak Time Techno territory.
Subground 3000 changes the texture with Natural High on EP Digital Music, bringing Melodic House and Techno into the programme. Forest On Stasys returns to Peak Time Techno with Lost In The Cosmos on Kizen Records.
Mark Broom’s M28 on Gynoid Audio brings a raw, deep and hypnotic Techno character, linked here to Deep Techno. Sasse closes the Floating Beats hour with the Timo Maas remix of Max Is Here on Tenampa Recordings, returning the selection to Melodic House and Techno.
Velvety Elements explores the deep House and Techno blend associated with DJ Joshua’s second programme. The original selection also highlights Nnatn Keep, Clive From Accounts and Arturo Murro.
In the second hour, B&S Concept’s Private Call on Piston Recordings establishes a Deep House direction. Mau Zeti’s Lost at Night on Conceptual Deep then reconnects the programme with Deep Tech House.
Arturo Murro’s Housenation on Air Music returns to Deep House, followed by DJ Linus’s Princess Of Georgia on Piston Recordings. Fish Go Deep’s Who Who on Go Deep Recordings sustains the warmer second-hour approach.
De La Swing shifts the rhythm with A Summer History on Cecille, bringing Deep Tech House back into focus. Franck Roger answers with What About Fun on Real Tone Records, restoring the deeper House emphasis.
Mancini’s Djebali remix of Furbished on hedZup records supplies another Deep Tech House turn before the closing stretch. Criss Korey and Vannelli Bros’ Rawdio remix of Keep Me Satisfied (Get on Down), followed by Col Lawton’s Bring It, both on House Cookin Records, finish Velvety Elements in Deep House territory.
