DJ Joshua presents the Floating Beats and Velvety Elements programmes on Scientific Sound Asia in this collection of tracklists. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
DJ Joshua, identified here as Joshua Mar, is a Portugal-based electronic music specialist with an extensive library and a deep appreciation for diverse styles, particularly Techno. His interest in electronic music developed during Portugal’s early-1990s rave scene.
He shared his enthusiasm through local radio and organised events, recognising music’s capacity to bring people together. Those activities established him as a leading figure in his local scene.
After a period focused on raising a family, DJ Joshua returned to music and launched Floating Beats, a weekly radio show recognised internationally. The programme provides a home for his selections across underground electronic music.
"Music is an art form," he reflects. "It’s the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body... Enjoy it.”
In the first hour, Floating Beats opens with A Sagittariun’s Heavy Manners on Idle Hands and Alexi Delano’s Crust on Toy Opulent, both rooted in Peak Time Techno. Their direct club focus establishes the first programme’s firm rhythmic approach. high-energy journey through Techno and House
Catching Flies follows with DJ Seinfeld’s Drum Dream Remix of Silver Linings on Indigo Soul, bringing a Dance - House contrast. Doctor J’s Dream Frequency in the Tecno Mix, released through Virtual Records, then introduces House Music.
Brame & Hamo’s Dust on Feel My Bicep adds Melodic House and Techno to the hour. Rub800’s CMON on Small Hours, Kernel Warp’s 9009 on Morning Mood Records and Federico Grazzini’s Yellow on Snatch! Records draw the selection into Tech House.
Biz’s Don't Stop on Transmat restores Peak Time Techno before DJ Deep’s Demonstration on Tresor Records turns towards Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic). Fundamental Harmonics’ Prismatic on Detone and S-File’s Hope Solo on UNCAGE bring Floating Beats to a concentrated Techno close.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements begins with Gusher’s Riazor on Piston Recordings, introducing Deep House. Leon (Italy)’s Fabe remix of Rip City on Moan follows with Deep Tech House.
Forteba’s BDTom remix of Time on Time on Tronic Soundz keeps the deeper house register in place. Jay-J’s Nervous on Moulton Studios Recordings adds a Tribal House accent to the second programme.
Piem featuring Mizbee and Richard Ulh appears with Other Things, followed by Andrew Azara’s Arp City on Heavy House Society. De La Swing’s A Summer History on Cecille keeps the Deep Tech House direction active.
Jorge Caiado’s John Thomas remix of Magic Carpet on Groovement returns to House Music, before Dexxter and UNNIQ bring Need Girl on Materialism into Tech House. Soulthek’s Years After on Piston Recordings and Olexa’s Therapy on Bedroom Muzik hold that rhythm into the closing stretch.
Facundo Mohrr closes Velvety Elements with I Have a Summer in My Eye on TRYBESof, moving the final passage into Organic House. The finish gives the warmer second hour a spacious final resolution.
