Hailing from Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua, whose real name is Joshua Mar, has long been connected to the world of electronic music. His vinyl and digital collection demonstrates a lifelong interest in Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout.
During the 1990s, DJ Joshua was a pivotal figure in the development of Portugal’s rave scene. Although rave music faced resistance at the time, he worked to promote electronic music.
His community-radio work and event organisation brought recognition in Portugal and abroad. After a period focused on family life, DJ Joshua returned with his radio shows.
Floating Beats occupies the first hour, with electronic music from Vince Watson, Maceo Plex and The KLF. The programme brings together a blend of Techno and House in a focused first-hour selection.
Velvety Elements forms the second-hour segment and shifts towards more soulful, introspective house music. It highlights artists including DJOKO, Paul Rudder and Diego Krause, exploring the emotional depth and complexity associated with Deep House.

In the first hour, Floating Beats opens with Vince Watson’s Time For Reflection on Everysoul, setting a Tech House foundation before Arm In Arm’s Hunger For Your Vibe in the Moonwalk remix on Blaufield Music. Maceo Plex’s Mutant Quasars on MPLX and Applescal’s Harmony Three on DGTL establish a Melodic House and Techno thread.
Butch’s Countach on Cocoon Recordings returns to Tech House before Sasha La Fleur’s Forbindelse on Last Night On Earth restores the melodic focus. Patlac’s Clint in the Foreign Guest remix on Moodmusic introduces a deeper change of pace, while Locked Groove’s From Beyond on Locked Groove Records brings in Peak Time Techno.
Edu Imbernon’s Concorde on Bedrock Records follows Locked Groove, before Reset Robot’s Earth Or Immortality on Last Night On Earth adds another taut late-set turn. Imbernon’s Flightmode, also on Bedrock Records, leads into Hidden Sequence’s Talk To Me on Piston Recordings and its Deep Tech House finish.
The second hour of Velvety Elements begins with Eman, Terrence T and Geoff M’s In the Club in the Jesus Gonsev remix, before Reno Renatama’s Lights on Oceanic Recordings. Tony Lionni’s Native Soul in the François Dubois remix on wewillalwaysbealovesong moves into Deep House, followed by HUGEhands’ Step By Step on Piston Recordings.
Marco Bocatto’s Speaker Rodhes on Crossworld Vintage keeps the second-hour mood centred on measured house rhythms. Alkalino’s Dance To The Beat on Audaz adds a further Deep House cut without breaking that understated flow.
Luca Donzelli’s Crispy on likeminded tightens the rhythm through Deep Tech House. Leon (Italy) closes with the Fabe remix of Rip City on Moan, ending Velvety Elements with a leaner club-focused sound.
