Bicycle Corporation publishes track-list for new show this Sunday 28th of July

Bicycle Corporation presents Roots episode 13 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is the duo of DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have released more than 50 tracks across house music and techno subgenres.

Marco began DJing in Italy in 1991 and soon organised his own house music and techno events. He founded the Urban People collective, whose members staged events throughout Italy.

His work led to a residency at Pacha in Egypt. The position brought international recognition and DJ bookings around the world.

Raised in Torino, Italy, Stefano showed an early aptitude for music and mathematics. He studied classical piano, percussion and drums, developing an appreciation for Chopin and West African djembes.

As a teenager, Stefano became fascinated by the figure behind the turntables. The electronic beats that were difficult to find on Italian radio in the 1990s introduced him to a new direction in music.

The tracklist below represents the Roots of their sound, bringing together influences that have informed Bicycle Corporation's electronic releases. These include Funk, Disco, Soul, Afrobeat, Electro, Rare Groove, Hip Hop and Afrocentric music. Bicycle Corporation is available for bookings through Scientific Sound Asia's DJ agency.

Bicycle Corporation's Roots episode 13 opens with Addison Groove's Go La La, before Disco Halal's Hamathil (Red Axes Edit) and Fela Kuti's O.D.O.O (Lodger Remix) broaden the opening selection. LEGO follows with Afrikano (Lego Afrocult Edit) and Dee-Ly Stan (Lego Edit Disco Cut), placing successive edits beside the episode's foundational records.

Autarkic's Bongos Tambourines (Simple Symmetry Remix) on Disco Halal introduces House Music, followed by Aero Manyelo's Gowa on Madorasindahouse Records and its Afro House character. Tania Maria's Come With Me (Lego Unreleased Edit), Abu Sayah's Houran and Gaspar Muniz's Emorio (Gaspar Muniz Edit) then bring Brazilian jazz, regional rhythm and edited material into the sequence.

Cerrone's Funk Makossa, featuring Manu Dibango, appears in its Mawimbi Remix on Malligator Préférence and adds an Electro edge. Choco & His Mafimba Drum Rhythms' Claves on Audio Fidelity draws on African Music, before Andras' Jingo on Public Possession returns to House Music.

Dexter Jones' Don't Stop on Alpaca Edits and GZZ's Groove for Sale on Sure Cuts Records move through Nu-Disco. Harry Thumann's Underwater on Decca brings Eurodisco edits into view, while J Wax's Different Nights on Fade To Zaire shifts into Deep House.

Jean-Michel Jarre's Oxygen (Lego Edit) precedes James Brown vs Maceo Parker's Funky Drummer vs Soul Power, keeping the emphasis on reinterpretation and rhythmic contrast. Dancing People's Agboju (Nick XOA HWRD edit), Four Tet's The Track I've Been Playing That People Keep Asking About And That Joy, and Mother's Finest's Dis Go Dis Way Dis Go Dat Way bring Deep House, dubstep and R&B references into the later stretch.

LEGO's Indigenous to mARS and Manu Dibango's Afrobango Django Groovin lead into Free Shelter's Moustahil (Aaron Maple edit), returning the programme to House Music. Richard Wahnfried's Time Actor introduces instrumental synthesiser music before Johnson Products' Johnson Jumpin' on Suol and Rose Royce's Do Your Dance (12 Funk 1977) close on Nu-Disco, R&B and Funk-informed ground.
