Bicycle Corporation return with Foundations episode 39 with guest DJ Biscuit, continuing their long-running radio series with another selection rooted in underground electronic music. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music platform connecting listeners across the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo formed by Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Their catalogue includes more than fifty productions and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House, melodic electronic music and Techno.
Marco began DJing and producing in the early 1990s and became involved with the Urban People collective, organising events across Italy while developing his reputation behind the decks. That period established the foundations for a career that later expanded well beyond the Italian underground.
A residency with Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh became an important turning point and opened the door to wider international bookings. From there, Marco's career developed across clubs and events in Europe, Asia and other parts of the international electronic music circuit.
Stefano grew up in Turin and developed his musical background through classical piano, percussion and drums. His early interests ranged from composers such as Chopin to the rhythmic traditions of West African djembe, giving him a broader musical foundation before electronic production became his main focus.
As a teenager, he became increasingly fascinated by DJ culture and the electronic music that was still relatively difficult to hear on mainstream Italian radio during the 1990s. That interest eventually developed into production work and later into the partnership that became Bicycle Corporation.
Together, Marco and Stefano have maintained a steady flow of releases while continuing to explore different areas of underground electronic music. Their partnership combines Marco's experience as a club DJ with Stefano's musical training and production background, allowing the project to move comfortably between deeper, melodic and more driving material.
The pair have also revisited some of their earlier productions and made them available through the Bicycle Corporation Bandcamp page. The archive gives listeners access to material from different stages of the project while the duo continue to develop new music and radio episodes.
Guest DJ Biscuit.
This week's guest is DJ Biscuit, the stage name of Daniela Horeanga, a Romanian-born PR professional, event organiser and DJ based in Malaysia. Her background in journalism, communication and public relations eventually became closely connected with electronic music, leading her to develop events and projects aimed at supporting underground music across Asia.
After beginning her career as a journalist in Romania, Daniela moved to Malaysia and became increasingly involved with the region's electronic music community. Her interest soon developed beyond attending events, with projects extending into the Philippines and Thailand as she worked to create platforms for DJs, producers and independent promoters.
Her musical background was shaped by electronic music, Pop Rock and New Wave, with Depeche Mode becoming an important early influence. Those foundations later fed into a broader interest in underground club music and helped shape the direction of the events, radio projects and DJ work she would pursue.
Daniela founded Art Xtreme Media, an events and creative company established in Malaysia to develop music-focused concepts across Kuala Lumpur's nightlife scene. Its projects included the weekly party The Sweatbox, the monthly Taboo series and Questionmark Wednesdays at The Iron Fairies KL, a night created with music-industry audiences in mind.
Through Art Xtreme Media, she developed collaborations with international artists, local producers, clubs, publications, radio stations and regional promoters. These connections extended into Thailand and Indonesia through projects involving organisations such as Techno Sake, Panorasuna and Enter The Void, strengthening a network centred on non-mainstream electronic music.
In 2018, Art Xtreme Media expanded into label activity with the launch of Sweatbox Records. The imprint was created as a platform for local and international producers whose music reflected the deeper and more technical direction associated with The Sweatbox parties.
Its first compilation, From Sunset To Sunrise Vol. 1, brought together 25 artists across 21 tracks and was designed to reflect the progression of a full Sweatbox night. The label was developed in collaboration with UK production duo MDE, formerly known as My Digital Enemy, who also operated the Vudu and Zulu labels.
Daniela's desire to communicate directly through music eventually led her behind the decks, and DJ Biscuit emerged in 2017 as the performance side of her wider work. The following year she hosted Biscuit + Friends every Wednesday at Elysium KL, creating a deeper House-focused session built around regular back-to-back sets with local and international guests.
Her DJ sets move between deeper grooves, minimal-influenced House and stronger Techno, with Drum and Bass also remaining part of her wider musical background. Rather than fixing herself to one narrow sound, Biscuit uses different levels of intensity and rhythm to shape the direction of each set.
She has shared the decks with artists including Saab, Subb-An and Guti while performing across Malaysia and internationally. Appearances have taken her from Indonesia and Romania to Ibiza, extending the same regional and international outlook that has shaped her work as an organiser.
The Sweatbox concept also expanded into Thailand during 2018, creating another outlet for DJs and producers connected with the wider Art Xtreme Media network. The project reflected Daniela's broader aim of developing sustainable platforms for electronic music while giving regional talent more opportunities to reach audiences beyond their immediate local scenes.
As DJ Biscuit, Daniela combines the perspective of a selector, promoter, label founder and communications professional. Her work remains centred on discovering music, building communities around it and creating opportunities for underground artists across Malaysia and the wider Asian electronic music scene.
DJ Biscuit opens Bicycle Corporation Foundations 39 with Kaufmann's "Maschine", immediately setting the programme on the driving course of Peak Time Techno before Boris Brejcha and Laura Korinth provide an early melodic contrast with "Gravity". Fab Massimo's "Let Me Smash" and Loco & Jam's "Basement Jack" quickly restore the heavier club pressure, beginning a long central run built around forceful drums, rolling basslines and steadily increasing momentum.
Gaga and Mateo!'s "Mirage" leads into Oliver Huntemann's tougher remix of Oliver Schories' "Devon", after which Kaufmann returns through Lampe's remix of "Maschine". Cosmic Boys, Pleasurekraft with Atroxx and Dense & Pika then drive the mix deeper into Techno, with "Fire", "Clarity" and "Rain" giving the middle section a firmly functional dancefloor character.
Patrik Berg's "Never Stop", Ramiro Lopez and Spartaque's "Frequency", On/Off's "Rouge" and Gaga's edit of Mateo!'s "Flashlight" maintain that intensity through a sequence dominated by peak-time material. AKKI and Kaspar continue with "Horizon" before Distant Soul's "Out Of Control", creating a sustained techno passage that gives DJ Biscuit room to build pressure through selection and pacing rather than abrupt stylistic changes.
Jon Hopkins and ANNA provide the clearest late-set change with "Deep In The Glowing Heart (Night Version)", bringing the expansive melodic qualities of Melodic House and Techno into an otherwise hard-driving programme. Nakadia then pulls the mix back towards techno before Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani's remix of Sam Paganini's "Rave", Lilly Palmer's remix of Adam Beyer and DJ Rush, and Dense & Pika's "Bricks" bring Foundations 39 to a powerful, club-focused finish.
