Bicycle Corporation guest DJ Jasmine Li for Electronic Roots 150

Bicycle Corporation return with Electronic Roots 150, featuring DJ Jasmine Li as the guest on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation consists of Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and musician and producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Together, they have built a catalogue of more than fifty original productions and remixes across labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx.

Marco began DJing in Turin during the early 1990s and became involved with the Urban People collective, helping organise House and Techno events while developing his reputation behind the decks. His work in Italy eventually led to a residency with Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, opening the way to further international bookings across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

That international path became a defining part of Marco's career and broadened the musical perspective he later brought into Bicycle Corporation. He is now based in Taipei, where his continuing work as a DJ and producer keeps him closely connected with electronic music scenes across Asia.

Stefano's musical background developed differently, beginning with classical piano before expanding into percussion and drums. His influences range from composers such as Chopin to the rhythms of West African djembe, giving his production work a broad musical foundation.

Alongside that instrumental background, Stefano developed a strong interest in DJ culture and electronic music during his teenage years. That combination of formal musicianship, rhythm and club music later became an important part of the ideas he developed with Marco through Bicycle Corporation.

Their partnership brought together Marco's experience in clubs and international DJ culture with Stefano's background in composition and musicianship. Over time, Bicycle Corporation developed a production catalogue spanning different areas of House and Techno without limiting the project to a single sound.

The duo have also revisited earlier productions through their Bandcamp page, making music from different stages of their catalogue available again. This connection with their earlier work fits naturally with the wider idea behind Electronic Roots, which explores the influences and developments that have shaped their musical outlook.

Electronic Roots gives Bicycle Corporation a platform to feature DJs and producers connected with electronic music across Asia and beyond. The programme regularly covers House, Techno, Afro House, Organic House, Tech House, Melodic House and related underground styles while allowing each guest to bring their own musical direction to the show.

Episode 150 continues that approach with Jasmine Li joining Bicycle Corporation as the featured guest. Her appearance adds another perspective to a series built around artists whose work connects different strands of contemporary electronic music across the region.

Guest DJ Jasmine Li.

This week's guest DJ is Jasmine Li, a Guangzhou-born DJ, producer and acoustic musician whose career has been closely connected with China's electronic music scene for more than two decades. After many years based in Shanghai, she is now based in Valencia, Spain, while continuing her work across electronic music and live performance.

Jasmine began her professional career in Chinese classical and operatic music before moving into electronic music and production. That early background in performance and traditional instrumentation gave her a distinctive foundation as she developed her work as a DJ and producer.

She later became closely involved with Shanghai's nightlife as co-founder and proprietor of the after-hours club Celia, known for programming Deep House and darker Techno. Together with her earlier involvement in Shiva Lounge and Downtown, the venue formed an important part of her contribution to Shanghai's underground electronic music culture.

Her career has also taken her well beyond China, with appearances across Asia and Europe. Festival and event bookings have included Elrow, Amsterdam Dance Event, A Summer Story and Great Wall Festival, reflecting the international reach she developed through years of touring.

Alongside DJing, Jasmine works on the Silverlining project, where she combines electronic production with elements drawn from traditional Chinese music. Instruments including the pipa and guzheng have formed part of that approach, connecting her earlier musical training with her later work in electronic composition.

Across her career, Jasmine has appeared on line-ups with artists including Sasha, Darren Emerson, Deadmau5, Mark Knight, Armin van Buuren and Adana Twins. Her experience across clubs, festivals, production and acoustic performance gives her work a perspective shaped by both traditional musicianship and more than two decades within electronic music.

DJ Jasmine Li opens Electronic Roots Episode 150 with Borsky's BegFriend, immediately establishing an Indie Dance direction before Leo N, No Hopes and KOFA sharpen the rhythm with the Indie Tech character of Creeps. Humar returns the programme to Indie Dance, while Elegie's Starless introduces the heavier low-end pressure of Bass House early in the mix.

Vani, No Hopes and KOFA continue the tougher club emphasis before DEZZOUT and Cuprite with Liza Lee bring the selection back into the darker electronic pulse that dominates much of the episode. Landau's remix of KARPOVICH, Bonnie Spacey and RSTQ, followed by St.Ego's version of Ankimay, extends that Indie Dance run through increasingly percussive and hypnotic material.

Hot Oasis and Bahramji's Farfasha introduces a more organic and Middle Eastern-inflected passage, followed by Genish and S H I R A N's Galbi and Max Ches' remix of Ndigo's Dilemma. Tomy Wahl and Dennis Lee then break the long Indie Dance sequence with Code X, bringing the driving force of Peak Time Techno into the middle of the programme.

Pyjama Sound, Monosix and Balam return the session to Indie Dance before Tovi's Infernal Groove and Favio Inker with Rodrigo AM and BabyPeach maintain the dark, rolling club character. Alex Grafton and A.G.N.I continue that thread with Do Do Pero, while Normtone's Deka provides the second Bass House excursion and briefly reinforces the heavier low-end emphasis heard near the start.

Guzy's remix of Marc DePulse begins another extended Indie Dance run through Sergio, Cafe De Anatolia with Capoo, Benicci and BOHO, giving the later stages a consistent mixture of electronic drive, melodic hooks and global influences. Tovi returns with 42 Minutes before Nedisco and DR, SNEPKA and DJVEDO push the programme into a darker late-stage sequence.

A X L closes Episode 150 with Safari on Made In Egypt, completing a set overwhelmingly centred on Indie Dance but punctuated by Indie Tech, Bass House and one direct Techno departure. Jasmine Li's selection keeps those stylistic changes closely connected, allowing darker club rhythms, ethnic melodic elements and heavier bass pressure to sit within one coherent electronic progression.

Listen to the live broadcast on Wednesday, September 30th, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM Indochina Time (ICT), and hear the replay on Sunday from 6 AM to 8 AM (ICT).
