Bicycle Corporation announces track-list for ‘Roots’ 068

Bicycle Corporation present episode 68 of Roots on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, a promoter, and a music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is the Italian DJ and production partnership of Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who is also known as 6884. The pair have released more than 50 productions and remixes spanning Techno, Deep House, House Music, melodic music and French House.

Marco began his career in the early 1990s, working as crew on events such as Urban People. His growing profile in Italy led to wider demand and international bookings.

Stefano, who is from Torino, Italy, showed an early interest in music and devoted much of his spare time to it. He studied classical piano, percussion and drums, and developed an appreciation for Chopin and West African djembe.

His interest in DJing became particularly important during his teenage years, when these records were seldom heard on Italian radio. The prospect of making and playing such music for large audiences seemed distant, but Stefano pursued that ambition through hard work, dedication and tenacity.

That commitment helped bring Bicycle Corporation into being. Marco and Stefano have also revisited earlier material and established a Bandcamp page to distribute it.

Roots draws on Afrocentric records and a broad selection of Funk, Afrobeat, Disco, Reggae, Hip Hop, Brazilian, Latin Music, Jazz Music, Rare Groove and Soul. Marco is based in Taipei and works across South East Asia, while Bicycle Corporation are available for booking through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency and broadcast weekly on its radio station.

Bicycle Corporation's Roots episode 68 on Scientific Sound Asia begins with Chakachas' Jungle Fever, bringing an Electronica opening on Tirk Records. Will Power's Adventure In Success, Traks' Drums, Tony Orlando's Don't Let Go and Timy Thomas' Afrikano broaden the opening run before TheDJlawyer appears.

TheDJlawyer's Bill's Bank and Voyage bring Nu-Disco to the programme through Bruto Records Vintage. The Fatback Band's Yum Yum follows with a Hip Hop credit from Silver Side Productions, before The Owl's Boogie and The Mr. K Edits' Sun Sun Sun extend the rhythmic focus.

The Cats 'n' Jammer Kids' Disco Drum Part.2 draws on Disco through Pickwick Records. Tania Maria's Come With Me in the Lego unreleased edit introduces Jazz Music, then T-Connection's At Midnight returns to Nu-Disco on High Fashion Music.

Liaisons Dangereuses' Los Ninos Des Parque Remix, issued by Strut, brings a Dance Music turn to the sequence. Stargard's Which Way Is Up, Sparks' Rock recording Beat The Clock on BMG Rights Management, and Willie Colon's Set Fire To Me follow in succession.

Sambôa's 1983 recording Ze Bede precedes Rose Royce's R&B selection Do Your Dance on Rhino/Warner Records. Ray Mang's Hum Along Dance then leads into People's Choice's Nu-Disco record Do It Any Way You Wanna, released through TSOP, and Liquid Liquid's House Music cut Optimo on Domino.

Macao Parker's Soul Power, Yellowman's Zungguzungguguzungguzeng and Fela Kuti's Adoo take the selection into its final section. Maceo And The Macks' R&B recording Soul Power on Universal Records gives way to T-Connection's Do What You Wanna Do in the BC edit, closing the programme with House Music.
