Bicycle Corporation return with another edition of Foundations, this time featuring guest DJ Scottish Power, also known as Paulitical. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform serving listeners across the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo formed by Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, better known as 6884. Their catalogue includes more than fifty productions and remixes spanning Techno, Deep House, House, melodic electronic music and French House.
Marco began his career in Turin during the early 1990s, working with the Urban People collective as a DJ, promoter and event organiser. His growing reputation across Italy eventually led to international bookings and helped establish a career that would extend far beyond his home country.
Over the years, Marco has developed an adaptable style shaped by decades of club experience and a broad understanding of underground electronic music. His work behind the decks has taken him across Europe, Asia and other parts of the international club circuit.
Stefano grew up in Turin and showed a strong interest in music from an early age, studying classical piano, percussion and drums. His wider influences included Chopin and West African djembe, giving him a broad rhythmic and melodic foundation before electronic production became his main focus.
As a teenager, Stefano became increasingly fascinated by DJ culture and the electronic music that was still difficult to hear on mainstream Italian radio during the 1990s. That interest encouraged him to study production and develop the technical skills that would later become central to Bicycle Corporation.
When Stefano met Marco, the pair discovered a shared understanding of underground electronic music and began working together. Marco's experience on the dancefloor and Stefano's studio background allowed the project to move between deeper, melodic and more driving club material without being tied to a single style.
Across numerous labels and releases, Bicycle Corporation have maintained a steady output while continuing to develop new ideas together. Their partnership reflects a long-term commitment to electronic music while leaving room for the different influences each member brings to the project.
The duo have also revisited material from the earlier stages of their catalogue and made selected productions available through their Bandcamp page. This gives listeners access to older work while Marco and Stefano continue developing new releases, collaborations and radio episodes.
Guest DJ Paulitical/Scottish Power.
This week's special guest DJ is Scottish Power, also known as Paulitical, a Scottish DJ, producer and record label owner from Glasgow. His musical direction centres on Industrial EBM and Techno, with a darker club-focused approach shaped by electronic body music, machine-driven rhythms and underground dancefloor culture.
Scottish Power has released music through a range of independent labels including Insane Industry, Scale Trax, Otomo Trax and Nu Body Records. His catalogue also includes several releases through his own imprint, Still Distant Records, giving him a direct platform for developing music that reflects his own interpretation of darker electronic sounds.
Still Distant Records has become an important part of his wider activity as both an artist and label owner. The imprint allows him to support his own productions while also contributing to the broader network of producers working across Industrial EBM, Techno and related underground styles.
His guest appearance is connected with his Scientific Sound Asia event at The Villa Project in Vietnam, where he was scheduled to perform on 11 February. The radio session therefore provides another introduction to his music alongside his live activity in the region.
The appearance formed part of a wider Asian tour that included dates across Japan, Malaysia and other destinations. These bookings gave Scottish Power the opportunity to take his sound beyond the Scottish club circuit and connect with audiences across several parts of Asia.
His guest mix draws on EBM and Techno selections from both his own catalogue and other labels he follows closely. The session reflects the harder and more industrial side of his musical identity while maintaining the direct club energy associated with his live performances.
Scottish Power continues to perform regularly across Scotland while developing new releases through Still Distant Records and other independent labels. His growing international activity adds another dimension to a project already rooted firmly in Glasgow's underground electronic music community.
Scottish Power opens Bicycle Corporation Foundations 62 with Paulitical's "Welcome To Hell" before Kris Baha's "Starts To Fall" establishes the abrasive mechanical character that runs through much of the programme. Baha's track sits between industrial electronics and Peak Time Techno, and Raw Ambassador, Iv Horsemen and Gbxcl continue that hard-edged progression with increasingly stark machine rhythms.
Dorothy's Fortress and Boytronic introduce flashes of synth-driven body music before Shed, James Ruskin with DVS1 and Paulitical bring the set firmly back towards Techno. The centre of the mix becomes darker and more severe through Evil Dust, DJ Varsovie, Psyk and Ancient Methods with Theologian, drawing on industrial, EBM and Dark Techno textures rather than relying on straightforward peak-time impact.
The pressure continues through Hkkptr, New Town Ground, Setaoc Mass and Reka with Imperial Black Unit, whose "Arrasadora Utopia" fuses techno with industrial and EBM influences while retaining a driving club structure. Riki, Reeko, Nx1 and Lady Starlight keep that underground pulse intact before DVS1's "Polyphonic Love" injects a classic driving techno cut into the latter half of the set.
Deep'A & Biri, Architectural and Paulitical's "Acidic Fire" lead into a closing sequence where Fixmer, Zanias and The Horrorist pull the music even closer to EBM, industrial and Experimental territory. Thomas P. Heckmann's remix of "Programmed", followed by In Aeternam Vale and Rrose's remix of Daniel Avery's "Sensation", gives Foundations 62 a severe final stretch that connects raw techno, industrial body music and darker electronic forms without softening the set's uncompromising character.
