Bicycle Corporation presents Roots 107 on Scientific Sound Asia, with guest DJ Herb Cabral appearing for his fourth Roots show. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter that also operates as a music-news platform for audiences across the region and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian collaboration between DJ and producer Marco MEI and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. During the early 1990s, Marco began his work as a DJ and producer and organised events across Italy with the Urban People crew.
That work brought recognition, a residency at Pacha and international DJ bookings, taking him to audiences around the world. Stefano was born and raised in Torino, Italy, and showed a strong musical ability from childhood.
He studied classical piano, percussion and drums with commitment, while listening to Chopin and West African djembe traditions. As a teenager, Stefano found the prospect of DJing to a crowd increasingly compelling, particularly as electronic beats were difficult to find on Italian radio during the 1990s.
That interest opened a new chapter in his life and led to the development of Bicycle Corporation. Roots 107 places the duo alongside Herb Cabral, whose tracks Providentia and Hallway (Original Raw Mix) appear in the programme.
Bicycle Corporation's Roots 107 with Herb Cabral opens with Martin Roth's Have You Ever on Anjunadeep, establishing a Deep House tone. Reinier Zonneveld's Open Your Head on MBF ltd then brings in the tighter rhythm of Tech House.
Nina Kraviz's Ghetto Kraviz on Rekids sustains the Tech House focus before Andrea Di Rocco's The Past Present on IWW Music moves into Peak Time Techno. Love Over Entropy's Tonii (Dixon Retouch) is followed by Andreas Bergmann's Amper on Klopfgeist, bringing in House Music.
Ricardo Ciszak's Sexy Nightmare on Fifty Fathom Records leads into Fabio Giannelli's Maintain on Get Physical Music, both returning the set to Deep House. Titan Road's Over The Moon on Smiley Fingers Limited follows before Sons Of Maria's Solero on Enormous Tunes introduces Mainstage energy.
Herb Cabral's Providentia arrives before Oliver Schories' Barac on SOSO brings the programme back to Peak Time Techno. Cabral's Hallway (Original Raw Mix) precedes Reinier Zonneveld featuring Simone White's Archive (Roberto Capuano Remix), maintaining the set's more forceful electronic direction.
Paco and Return of the Jaded's Nights Watch on Kittball returns to Tech House, while Maceo Plex's Can't Leave You (Tale Of Us Remix) on Crosstown Rebels introduces Deep Tech House. Claptone's The Only Thing on Exploited restores a Deep House feel before Andhim featuring Super Flu's Mr. Bass on Toolroom Records adds another House Music selection.
Olga Kouklaki featuring Liset Alea's Hollow Lives (T.Finland Remix) and Roberto Rodriguez with Fat Max C's Ride With Me (Burnt Island Casuals Remix) lead into Tigerskin featuring Grambow's Faint on Dirt Crew Recordings. Philip Arruda's Feels Like Space (The Junkies Remix) on Roots And Wings Music closes Roots 107 with a final Tech House cut.

This week's guest DJ is Herb Cabral, Herb is a DJ and music producer from Manila, Philippines. Herb is part of a small cluster of House Music and Techno artists in the capital Manila including Deepgroove Collective, Footprints, Movement Sound System, Elements and Konnekt.
Being a part of these groups provide creative collaborations to keep Manila's scene robust and provide a connection to the international scene. Before the pandemic, Herb has been a regular fixture in Manila's House and Techno joints, bars and clubs along Poblacion, Makati like Topic, Nokal and XXX and in BGC districts like Chotto Matte and Reserve.
His last international music festival gig was at Epizode 4 in Phu Quoc, Vietnam in December 2019. Some of his original productions and remixes have been released by House and Techno labels such as Asia Music (Southeast Asia), Sayaw Records (PH) Funktrap Records (USA), Frameworkxx Records (The Netherlands), Berlin After Dark (USA), Jumpstereo (UK) and Celestial Records (UK). This month's show features one of his tracks.
