Bicycle Corporation is the Italian duo formed by Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, better known as 6884. Together they have produced more than fifty original tracks and remixes spanning House, Deep House, Tech House, melodic electronic music and Techno.
Marco began his career in Turin during the early 1990s, developing as a DJ and producer while becoming increasingly involved with Italy’s underground electronic music scene. His early work combined DJing with promotion and event organisation, giving him experience on both sides of club culture.
He later founded Urban People, a collective responsible for House and Techno events across Italy. What began through smaller underground gatherings developed into a recognised platform that helped Marco build his reputation as both a selector and organiser.
That progress eventually led to a residency with Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The opportunity strengthened his international profile and opened the way for further bookings across Europe, Asia and other parts of the global club circuit.
Marco’s musical interests have always extended beyond contemporary House and Techno alone. Years of record collecting introduced him to Afrocentric rhythms, Disco, Funk and other electronic influences that later became particularly relevant to the wider musical approach behind Roots.
Stefano grew up in Turin and displayed strong musical ability from an early age. He studied classical piano, percussion and drums while developing an interest in everything from Chopin to the rhythmic traditions of West African djembe.
That background gave him a broad understanding of melody, rhythm and arrangement before electronic music became his main focus. Rather than remaining confined to classical training, he became increasingly fascinated by the possibilities offered by synthesised sound and club-oriented production.
During his teenage years, Stefano was particularly drawn to the role of the DJ and the way electronic music could shape the energy of a crowd. Much of that music was still difficult to hear on mainstream Italian radio during the 1990s, which encouraged him to search more deeply for records and explore the production process behind them.
His meeting with Marco provided the catalyst for what eventually became Bicycle Corporation. Marco’s experience in clubs and promotion combined naturally with Stefano’s musical training and studio interests, giving the duo a flexible foundation for production and DJ work.
Over time, Bicycle Corporation developed a catalogue that moved between different areas of House and Techno without being restricted to one particular formula. Their broader musical background has also allowed them to explore older records, regional influences and the foundations behind contemporary electronic music.
That approach sits at the centre of Roots, where the duo step beyond their own production catalogue to examine the music and artists that shaped their development. Episode 115 continues that format with Brendon P, whose own four-decade career brings an additional perspective to the programme.

This episode’s guest is DJ Brendon P, the stage name of Singaporean DJ and producer Brendon Perera. With more than four decades behind the decks, he has built a reputation for understated selection, musical depth and an approach that values quality over unnecessary showmanship.
Brendon began DJing in 1980 on Singapore’s mobile DJ circuit before moving into clubs the following year. Those early experiences gave him a strong grounding in programming music for different audiences and established the foundations of a career that would continue across several generations of dance music.
A visit to New York in 1984 became one of the most important periods in his musical development. During the trip, he experienced clubs including the Funhouse, Paradise Garage, Danceteria and Area, introducing him directly to the sounds and club culture that would contribute to the emergence of modern House music.
That exposure had a lasting effect on his musical direction and encouraged him to explore a wider range of dance music. His selections have since moved through House, Techno, Disco, Nu Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge and Electronica, with examples of his work available through SoundCloud and HearThis.
During the 1980s, Brendon worked across local and international clubs associated with the Juliana’s and Bacchus groups. The following decade brought residencies at Neo Pharaohs, Venom and NOX before he began a nine-year residency at Zouk Singapore.
That long period at Zouk became one of the defining stages of his career and placed him within one of Asia’s best-known club institutions. Further residency work followed at Kyo and later at CÉ LA VI Rooftop Club & SkyBar at Marina Bay Sands, strengthening his position within Singapore’s electronic music community.
Brendon’s international appearances have taken him to cities including Geneva, Gothenburg, Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taipei, Hanoi and Hong Kong. In June 2010, he also performed at the former Cielo Club in New York, reconnecting his career with the city that had influenced him so strongly during the 1980s.
Alongside DJing, Brendon has developed a substantial catalogue as a producer and remixer. His Beatport profile includes releases through labels such as In The Woods, Los Grandes, Reversoulmusic, Audio Parallax, Hotbox Music, Soul Shift, Defected, Rawjak, Eclesia, Issys Groove, Love International and One With Music.
Further releases can be explored through his Juno Download catalogue, documenting another side of a career built around both studio work and long-form DJ selection. His production output reflects the same broad musical outlook heard in his sets, moving between deeper House, Disco-influenced material and other forms of electronic music.
His recorded mixes are also available through Mixcloud, where his attention to pacing and musical progression is particularly apparent. Nicolas Matar, owner of the former New York clubs Cielo and Output, described Brendon as a “taste master” and one of the leading DJs in the region.

Brendon P opens Bicycle Corporation Roots 115 with XXXV Edits' "B-Movie", immediately establishing the low-slung Funk and edit culture that runs throughout the programme. Roots and KOT follow before Dimitri From Paris and DJ Rocca's "The Compass Point" moves firmly into Nu Disco, a modern club production built from the same disco and boogie lineage that informs much of Brendon P's selection.
Pete Le Freq's treatment of Level 42 leads into Resolution 88's "Taking Off" in the Mochi Men remix, where jazz-funk musicianship is reshaped through deep house, broken disco and Broken Beat influences. Slave and Frankie Beverly & Maze then return the emphasis to classic funk and Soul, with their familiar recordings given fresh dancefloor weight through contemporary edits and reworks.
Harvey Couture, Dave Mathmos, Gold Suite and Maxxxyt carry the middle of the set through modern edits, dub treatments and disco-derived grooves before Moplen's remix of Delia Renee turns the programme back towards a more explicit Disco pulse. Pete Le Freq's rework of McFadden & Whitehead follows naturally, while Funk Rimini's "King Of Style" strengthens the funk connection with an original production released as part of Soul Clap Records' Italo Funk Vol.2.
The Brand New Heavies bring another strand of British soul and funk into the closing section before Ray Mang's remix of Cho & Random Impetus combines boogie, disco, funk and soul in a distinctly modern rework. Isaac Hayes continues the link with classic American funk before Kameelah Waheed closes with the North Street West Vocal Remix of "America The Beautiful", rounding off a Roots episode that moves from archival edits and jazz-funk through contemporary disco and Soulful House without losing its historical grounding.
