Bicycle Corporation present their Roots 84 show with guest DJ Brendon P on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency and promoter that also operates as a music-news platform, connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian collaboration of DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Their catalogue includes more than 50 releases across Techno, Deep House, House, Melodic and French House music.
During the early 1990s, Marco began his career in the house and techno scene as a crew member at events including Urban People. His work in Italy led to international bookings as his profile grew beyond his home country.
Stefano, who comes from Torino, Italy, showed an early aptitude for music and spent much of his spare time developing his skills. He studied classical piano and percussion, played drums, and drew inspiration from Chopin as well as the rhythms of West African djembe.
DJing became Stefano's principal musical focus during his teenage years, when records and turntable culture had limited exposure on Italian radio. The sounds he encountered through DJing encouraged him to pursue both performance and production.
Marco and Stefano formed Bicycle Corporation through their shared commitment to making and performing electronic music. The project brought their different musical backgrounds together in a partnership centred on records, production and DJing.
The pair have revisited some of their earlier tracks and made them available through their Bandcamp page. The archive gives listeners an opportunity to reconnect with material from the duo's earlier work.
Bookings for Bicycle Corporation are available through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, which serves the Asian region. Their Roots programme spotlights figures from the electronic music scene in Asia, with an emphasis on Afrocentric material including funk, disco, afrobeat, jazz and soul.

DJ Brendon P, also known by his real name Brendon Perera, hails from Singapore and embodies a subtle, lo-fi approach to his artistry. With a career spanning nearly four decades and continuously evolving, Brendon boasts a wealth of experience within the club and music scene.
Brendon embarked on his journey in 1980 within the local mobile circuit, transitioning to clubs just a year later. However, it was his transformative visit to New York in 1984 that truly shaped his musical trajectory.
During this trip, he immersed himself in iconic clubs like the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria, and the Area. This experience exposed him to the dynamic New York club culture and the burgeoning house music scene, leaving a lasting impact that continues to resonate today.
Throughout his extensive DJ career, spanning an array of musical genres including House, Techno, Disco, Nu-Disco, Funk, Soul, Lounge, and Electronica, Brendon P has graced both local and international events. With roots firmly planted in the club scene since the 1980s, he has honed his skills, cultivating a discerning ear and an enduring passion for dance music.
Brendon P's illustrious career boasts residencies with prestigious groups such as Juliana’s and Bacchus in the '90s, alongside engagements with Neo Pharaohs, Venom, and NOX during the same period. Notably, he enjoyed a prominent 9-year residency at the globally renowned Zouk Club in Singapore. Additionally, from July 2001 to May 2009, Brendon held a 2-year residency at Kyo and played a vital role as a member of the Residents team at the esteemed CE LA VI Rooftop Club & Skybar at Marina Bay Sands for 4 and a half years.
Brendon remains a prominent figure in both the local and international club circuit to this day. His DJ sets have electrified cities worldwide, from Geneva and Gothenburg to Melbourne, London, New York, Miami, Taiwan, Hanoi, Hong Kong, and beyond.
Brendon also had the honour of performing at the prestigious (and now defunct) Cielo Club in New York in June 2010. Furthermore, as a producer in his own right, Brendon has released original tracks and remixes on esteemed labels such as In The Woods (USA), Los Grandes (Spain), Reversoulmusic (USA), Audio Parallax (UK), and various others.
Brendon's unwavering dedication to musical style, sophistication, and meticulous attention to detail has earned him immense praise. Nicolas Mattar, owner of New York's renowned venues 'Cielo' and 'Output', lauds him as a 'taste master' and one of the top DJs in the region. Alma Negra's Dakar Disco on Heist Recordings brings the set into Deep House territory. Phyzikal Flex's Seventh Heaven, released through Magic Carpet Records, returns the selection to house rhythms.
Residentes Balearicos' La Musica in the Rudys Midnight Machine Mix on Archipelago Music introduces a Downtempo passage. Fernando's Blue Impala on Leng Records and Rob The Bank's Sonhe on Random Mind State bring Indie Dance and Nu-Disco back into focus.
Bosq featuring Kaleta's Yuksek remix of Wake Up on Bacalao leads into Midnight Magic's Prins Thomas Diskomiks of Beam Me Up on Razor-N-Tape. Disco Feelings' Like Love and James Rod's Fingerman & Chewy Rubs remix of Matusalem Robot, both on Hot Digits Music, extend this central run of edits.
Rhyze's Moodena remix of Do Your Dance on Nervous Records restores the Nu-Disco emphasis before Brian Power featuring Lucita Jules' Michael Gray remix of Optimistic brings house back into play.
