Bicycle Corporation announce Camelia for first guest show

Bicycle Corporation's Roots 55 with guest Camelia is presented on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform serving Sri Lanka, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, India, South Korea and audiences internationally.

Bicycle Corporation is the collaboration between Italian DJ and producer Marco Mei and Stefano Ugliano, who is also known as 6884. Since forming the project, the pair have released more than 50 original tracks and remixes.

Marco began his musical path as a DJ and producer in the early 1990s, working through the Urban People collective in Italy. He organised House, Afrocentric and Techno events under the collective name before his work led to a residency with the Pacha nightclub brand and international DJ bookings.

His later work took him around the world as a DJ, building on the experience gained through those Italian events and the Pacha residency. Marco is based in Taipei, works across a wider Southeast Asian network, is available for bookings through the agency, and broadcasts weekly on the radio station.

Growing up in Torino, Italy, Stefano showed an early aptitude for music and studied classical piano, percussion and drums. His interests included Chopin's classical compositions alongside the rhythm and sound of West African djembes.

As a teenager, Stefano became increasingly captivated by the image of the DJ on stage and by electronic beats rarely heard on Italian radio during the 1990s. That fascination helped lead to the creation of Bicycle Corporation with Marco.

Camelia joins the duo for this guest edition of Roots as a French DJ and producer. Her contribution sits within the programme's broad electronic selection, which moves through deep and soulful club material before reaching more broken rhythmic territory.

This week's guest DJ is Camelia, a rising star in the electronic music scene. Born in the 1990s in western France, Camelia's journey into music took a transformative turn in 2014 when she moved to Montreal. There, she discovered the vibrant world of electronic music, igniting a passion that would shape her artistic path.

Upon returning to France, Camelia dedicated herself to music production, making her debut in 2019 with the Consciousness EP on Undersonic Records. Since then, her career has soared. She is now the official presenter of the weekly Rebirth Radio Show on Ibiza Global Radio and Café Mambo Ibiza, platforms that connect her to audiences worldwide.

Camelia’s artistry is deeply inspired by a rich musical heritage spanning jazz, blues, Detroit house, deep house, and African sounds. This broad spectrum of influences shapes her unique style, which blends soulful grooves with experimental soundscapes. Her live performances have gained her recognition on platforms like Mondonero, where she plays regularly, and at private events for prestigious brands such as Moncler and Sampling Moods. Sampling Moods, an association dedicated to art and culture, provides a perfect backdrop for her fusion of music with creativity and expression.

Her most recent release, Drop the Mask on Rebirth Records, is a testament to her evolving sound. The track captures the essence of NYC deep house, enriched with experimental ambient effects, minimal rhythm percussions, dreamy pads, and ethereal voices that feel otherworldly. It’s a musical journey that demonstrates her ability to craft immersive and emotive music. Camelia has hinted at more releases in the coming months, promising exciting new explorations of her ever-evolving style.

Camelia’s ability to blend influences, experiment with sound, and connect deeply with her audience makes her one of the most promising talents in electronic music today. We are delighted to feature her guest mix this week—sit back and let her music take you on a journey!

Bicycle Corporation's Roots 55 with guest Camelia opens with Dubbyman's Jazz For May on Soulstar Records, establishing a Deep House foundation. Thomas Fehlmann's Wasser Im Fluss in the Soulphiction Remix follows on Kompakt, retaining the measured depth of the opening.

Jestofunk's For Your Precious Love brings House Music into focus on Irma Dancefloor. Axel Boman's Europa on Studio Barnhus and Motor City Drum Ensemble's Raw Cuts #3 on Faces Records return the programme to deep house textures.

Frank Agrario's I Played That Track Already in Rick Wade's Remix moves into Electro-inflected territory on Micronation Records. John Davis & The Monster Orchestra's Louie Vega Mix of Bourgie', Bourgie' on Nurvous Records answers it with house music, before Sascha Dive's Gadgets And Buttons on Kwench Records deepens the mood.

The Silver Rider's Love Will Guide Our Hearts on Lovedancing gives way to Chaos In The CBD's Global Erosion, featuring Isaac Aesili, on YAM Recordings. Damiano von Erckert's Tribute to a Hero on AVA. Records and Ron Trent's album edit of Space Lover on Future Vision Records hold the set within its house-oriented centre.

Instant House's Joe's Jungle Dub of Awade on Natural Resource leads into Elisa Elisa's Drum Love on Heattraxx. FLIGHT MODE's It's So Nice on Delusions Of Grandeur introduces Indie Dance, before Camelia's own Drop The Mask appears on Rebirth.

Delano Smith's Deep Mix of Ancestors on Kolour Recordings restores the deep house emphasis near the close. Acid Mondays end the selection with The Maghreban Soul Remix of Universal Rhythm on R&S Records, bringing the episode to a finish through Breaks.
