Andrew Welman is a DJ, producer and electronic music enthusiast from Montreal, Canada. When he is not performing, he spends his time in the studio creating his own music.
After many years concentrating on another career, he decided last year that it was time to rekindle his true love. That passion is being a disc jockey and producer, and sharing his musical vision with a wider audience.
His influences include artists such as Eats Everything, Carl Cox and Honey Dijon. He has held multiple residencies on radio stations around the world, performing as a disc jockey and promoting his shows.
For Welman, it is about mood and a deep, hypnotic groove. He enjoys playing tracks that encourage foot-tapping and head-nodding without the listener realising it.
He plays regularly at underground events across Canada and has a reputation for making people move during his sets. His main styles are Deep House, Soulful House, Funky House and Tech House.
Andrew Welman’s first guest show episode 1 opens with Prequel featuring Cazeyaz O.S.L.O.’s Love Is on Rhythm Section International, bringing an Electronica introduction. Intr0beatz’s Irregularity on Cosmic Angles and Fred Everything’s Phoenix on Atjazz Record Company then establish the measured feel of Deep House.
St Germain’s Atjazz Galaxy Aart Remix of Rose Rouge, released through Parlophone France, extends that deep-house thread before Tiptoes’ Black Magic on Tiptoes Tapes changes the emphasis. Letherette’s Break My Heart on Wulf and Felipe Gordon’s Momma, It’s A Long Journey on Shall Not Fade bring the set into House Music territory while keeping the groove warm.
Henrik Schwarz’s Come Together on Innervisions and Emanuel Satie’s Departure on Cocoon Recordings introduce the more spacious lines of Melodic House and Techno. Paul Roux’s No Doubt on Arts raises the pressure with Peak Time Techno before the programme turns towards Ten Walls.
Ten Walls’ Walking with Elephants on Needwant leads into Extrawelt’s Die Zitrone Der Schöpfung on Cocoon Recordings, holding the melodic focus in place. Rodriguez Jr.’s Blisss on Mobilee Records and Antony Dupont’s Take Me Away on Metrohm balance house rhythm with melodic detail.
Dam Swindle’s The Break Up on Heist Recordings returns to deep-house rhythm before Taras Van De Voorde’s Manila on EC Records adds a firmer Techno edge. Fred Everything featuring Jinadu’s Deetron Remix of Searching and KiNK versus Marc Romboy’s Over & Out keep the later selections focused on club momentum.
Tim Deluxe’s Transformation on Get Human resets the rhythm before Oniris and Pat Brooks’ The Rebirth on Bedrock Records brings back melodic tension. Catz ’n Dogz and KiNK close with Bad Love, giving Welman’s debut guest edition a direct final release.
