Marco Mei of Bicycle Corporation presents his 2021 Podcast 45 show on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Marco Mei is an Italian DJ and producer with more than thirty years of experience. Drawn initially to Afrobeat and synthesised music, he began his DJ career in the early 1990s and later shared line-ups with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
Marco held a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm El Sheikh before touring internationally. His appearances included Woo Bar, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk.
These appearances also placed him alongside artists including Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D’Void. The international club circuit helped develop his experience across varied dancefloors and audiences.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The partnership brought their respective DJ and production experience together around house and techno music.
The duo’s first signing was with 17:44 record company, followed by releases on labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox. More than 50 tracks and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno have followed, including a Hard Techno remix of Virus D.D.Ds’ Origination released on 31 August.
Based in Taipei, Marco plays regular regional events with European underground influences and works within a wider network of artists in South East Asia. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while his weekly show is broadcast through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station.
Marco’s weekly selections include Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance and Techno. Podcast 45 moves through a broad club-focused selection, balancing melodic material, house rhythms and later Afro House records.
Maceo Plex and Program 2 open with Giovanni on Revision for Ellum, introducing Melodic House and Techno at the start of the programme. Pablo Fierro’s Before on WE'RE HERE adds Afro House, before Antenna’s Bodya on Royal050 establishes a House Music pulse.
Band Electronica and Midge Ure’s Âme remix of Das Beat on BMG Rights Management (UK) Ltd. brings a Dance Music entry into the early run. Ayhan Akca’s Aurasment on Awen Tales moves into Melodic Techno, while Fasme’s Coton on Feel My Bicep adds an Electronica edge.
Toco Toucan’s Cielo returns the programme to House Music, and Stereoclip’s Inner City Angels on Armada Electronic Elements introduces Deep House. Juravlove’s Pepa on Noire & Blanche keeps the rhythm direct before Dompe’s Midnight Man on Jackfruit Recordings leads into Dan Shake’s Daisy’s Dance on Sulta Selects Silver Service and its Nu-Disco character.
LF SYSTEM’s Dancing Cliche on Pets Recordings returns to House Music, followed by Unknown Artist’s Celeste on Waksin. Audiojack’s Vertigo on Gruuv, Ash Lauryn’s Dancin In The D on FWM Entertainment and DJ Popup’s Charlis on Help Recordings form a sustained mid-set house section.
Qrion’s Proud on Anjunadeep revisits Melodic House and Techno before Nick Curly and Jansons’ Alex Kennon remix of Chip Butty on Knee Deep In Sound restores a house-focused direction. Leonid’s Thermodynamic on Lunar Disko Records provides an Ambient pause before the final stretch.
Nic Fanciulli and Retna’s This Is Life on Toolroom, Enzo Siffredi and Baqabo’s Enoo Napa remix of Mamacita on Wired, and Ezel’s Orula on Ocha Mzansi give the closing section an Afro House focus. Keni Burke and Change’s Let Somebody Love Paradise lead to Carol Williams’ Love Is You on Salsoul Records, ending the set with a vocal-led final record.
