El Brujo presents El Brujo and the Wild Bunch episode 20 on Scientific Sound Asia, with guest DJ Falso Simulacro. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian and international electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform.
El Brujo, whose real name is Robert Milanesi, was born and raised in Italy in 1964 and plays the first hour of the programme. From a young age, he developed an enthusiasm for music and an interest in many different genres.
The hypnotic beats of electronic music soon became a particular favourite, and his commitment to music grew as he came of age. He worked steadily on musical projects with the aim of bringing new sounds to audiences across Italy and beyond.
By the mid-1990s, Robert had established himself as one of the founding figures of Bologna's underground rave scene. His first official release, Warriors, arrived in 2008 on the Milan label Open Legs.
Jambalay Records, his label, launched at its opening party in Ibiza, Spain, in 2010. The label and El Brujo reached an international audience when Maya Jane Coles charted his collaboration with Big Mojo, Mozambique, on the first CD release Nutty Fellas Are Go.
In January 2019, his release Plastic Dreams on Frame Worxx reached number 33 in the Beatport Hard Techno Top 100. El Brujo has also released on Elektrax, Frame Workxx, Lw Recordings, Subwoofer and other labels.
His work takes a raw approach across the different electronic styles he explores. The programme featured guest DJs from his Wild Bunch of techno producers and artists.
Guest DJ Falso Simulacro (second hour)
This week's guest DJ (second hour) is Falso Simulacro, Falso Simulacro's real name is Rodrigo Perez Moran and he is an Argentinian DJ and producer hailing from the capital Buenos Aires. He has been a regular DJ in the Argentinian scene for well over 35 years his interest in electronic music began 20 years ago.
He has performed as resident DJ at a host of nightspots across the capital city since the mid-eighties including a stint abroad in Uruguay in the early nineties. Additionally, he has performed as a guest DJ at events across the length and breadth of Argentina since his beginnings.
His production abilities have led to a span of releases across most electronic music genres like Progressive, Deep House, Tech House and Techno starting with his role as a production assistant at Top Records in 1993. He performs regular shows on stations internationally including Maxximixx Electra (Tel Aviv, Israel) and LDN Radio (London, UK) and for this show for our station.
El Brujo opens the first hour with DJ Youngy’s “Unity,” a House Music release from NDI, before A503X and his own “The Samsara Brotherhood.” Davide Abbrescia, Basscontroll and Kev Willis follow as the set works through material connected closely with the NDI roster and its varied underground electronic output.
Francesco Conti introduces an acid element through the Acidified Version of “Floor 6,” before Maurizio G, Max Boncompagni and N86 occupy the middle section. Andry Verx precedes El Brujo’s “I Hate You,” while Mirojam and El Brujo bring in Funky House through “Broken Bridges.”
N86 returns with “Elevated” before Just 9eorge closes the first hour with “Technophonic.” Rather than belonging to a single techno category, El Brujo’s selection draws from house-rooted NDI releases alongside deeper, acid-influenced and harder electronic material.
Falso Simulacro takes over the second hour entirely with his own productions, beginning with “Do Mi,” a Jackin House cut, followed by the Deep House track “Dancefloor.” “Dark Funk” precedes “Control” and “Katana,” with the latter two returning firmly to the deeper house side of his catalogue.
“What” adds Tech House before “Turn Up The Music” introduces a minimal-house direction, followed by “Looking Better” in its Deep Beats Mix. “So High” closes a second hour that is much more accurately described through deep house and related house forms than through techno.
