Marco Mei publishes a playlist for 2021 podcast 36

DJ Marco Mei of Bicycle Corporation presents Podcast 36, his 2021 programme on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, event promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Originally from Italy, Marco Mei brings more than thirty years of experience as a DJ and producer. His early influences included Afrobeat and synthesised music, shaping his direction before he began DJing professionally in the early 1990s.

His career has taken him to festivals and clubs around the world, where he has shared the decks with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg. As his reputation developed, he secured a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm el-Sheikh.

The residency opened the door to international touring and allowed him to develop his craft at Woo Bar, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk. He has also performed alongside Harry Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D’Void, strengthening his profile in the global club circuit.

In 2009, he formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The project combined their experience in DJing and production, resulting in releases across house and techno.

Their first signing came via 17:44, followed by releases on Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox. The duo have released more than fifty tracks and remixes spanning Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno, and their Hard Techno remix of Virus D.D.D’s Origination is an example of that output.

Now based in Taipei, Marco Mei performs regularly across the region and contributes to a growing network of artists in Southeast Asia. His weekly radio show features Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu Disco, Indie Dance and Techno, balancing groove, melody and club-focused energy.

He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency. His weekly broadcast forms part of the station’s programme of electronic music.

Podcast 36 opens with Ian Simmonds’ The State in Larry Heard’s Mr. Fingers Deep Mix, a Deep House foundation released on Goldmin Music. Sascha Ciminiera’s Milla Calls on Frank Music and Audiojack and Liset Alea’s Believer on Crosstown Rebels hold the early groove in place.

Keinemusik’s Confusion featuring Ali Love leads into Daniel Trabold’s Mood in the Dapayk and VARS remix on Sonderling Berlin. Black Circle’s Inner Tension on Moon Harbour brings an Afro House turn to the opening run.

Âme and K Á R Y Y N’s The Witness follows before Kameelah Waheed’s America the Beautiful on F*CLR Records returns to Deep House. Nina Kraviz’s Skyscrapers in the Solomun remix, released on Nina Kraviz Music, introduces Melodic House and Techno.

David Duriez’s Secret Weapons and Cassy’s Peacemaker tighten the middle of the programme before Cassy’s Together on Kwench Records brings in House Music. DJ One Five’s Russell Woods on Get Physical then keeps the rhythm direct.

Dimitri From Paris and Fiorious’ Music Saved My Life in the Marshall Jefferson Extended Remix on Glitterbox adds a Disco lift to the selection. Boo Williams’ I Don’t Wanna Lose You on Disco Runnerz, Nyra’s Sisco Visco on Canoe and Tilman’s Say Good Bye on Shall Not Fade return the set to House Music.

Yntro’s Dancing, Austin Ato’s Work featuring Dave Giles II and Erasure’s Secrets in the Kim Ann Foxman remix bring vocal and remix-led material into the late section. DJ T.’s Patci on Get Physical Music introduces Electronica, followed by Air Jackson’s Chemistry on Ten One Records and its Breaks rhythm.

Adryiano’s Disco Tape on Shall Not Fade White brings the programme back to House Music before Ben Watt’s Lone Cat in the Dennis Ferrer and Steve Martinez Special Re-Rub deepens the closing mood. Delegation’s Oh Honey in the DFunK edit provides a warm final record for the episode.
