Coh-hul presents Play It Loud episode 17 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform with international connections, and its radio player carries the programme.
At the time of publication, Coh-hul was an established DJ and producer based in Ho Chi Minh City, and had been represented by the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency for several years. His first major event was a New Year's Eve party in Northern Thailand in 2015, after which he developed a reputation for his music selection and style of play.
His sound is rooted in Tech House and Tech-funk, informed by Dirtybird, This Ain't Bristol, Relief, Snatch! and Perfect Driver. He favours funky drum patterns, pounding bass lines and futuristic Sci-Fi melodies, while reading when to intensify the set and when to give the crowd space.
Having lived in Saigon for five years by 2021, he hosted his own Tech-House nights and played city residencies. His best-known party was the monthly AfterDark event, co-hosted with Broma:Not A Bar.
He was a DJ member of the DTOX party brand and worked with WHAT? Events and Scientific Sound Asia events. His Ho Chi Minh City appearances included The Lighthouse, Saigon Soul Pool Party, Piu Piu, Upper Saigon, Hideout, Last Call, Indika, Saigon Outcast and Rogue, while he also played the Mui Ne Music & Arts Festival and The Rock Island Club's New Year's Eve event on Phu Quoc Island.
His admiration for Dirtybird Records led him to attend the Dirtybird Campout festival alone in the summer of 2017. During a United States visit, he set up a renegade party at Venice Beach in Los Angeles and performed for Stacy's at Melrose in Phoenix, Arizona.
In the summer of 2018, he played Le Chapiteau in Marseille to a sold-out venue, describing it as the best set of his career so far. By 2021, he had also started the YouTube show Seshnikov, offering music-production tips and presenting ideas for new tracks.
Coh-hul was available on Spotify and Bandcamp, with his focus at that point directed towards production and getting his own material onto dance floors. The episode follows an earlier programme focused on Jamie Jones' Hottrax label and turns instead to a selection associated with W&O Street Tracks, alongside current favourites and two of Coh-hul's own tracks.

Ranger Trucco's Horoscopes and Marijuana on Sink Or Swim brings a brief Bass House edge before Franklyn Watts' Mendo remix of Up In Thurr on Clarisse Records returns to the programme's central feel. Andreas Henneberg and Beth Lydi's Slap Clap on Birdfeed, Coh-hul's unreleased Oh Yeah! and Dillon Nathaniel's Now We're Back on Sink Or Swim keep the pressure focused on direct club rhythms.
The unreleased Space Cadet by WOAHH! sits between Dillon Nathaniel and Harvy Valencia's Hawaiian on Sola Nauts, without an assigned genre in the supplied evidence. Ammo Avenue's Mating Call on Roush Label, Ciszak's To The Stars on Terminal Underground and Catz 'n Dogz's I Bought It All on Pets Recordings then carry the set through its mid-point.
Waze & Odyssey's Everything (You're Made Of) introduces the Street Tracks material, followed by Steve Huerta and Urula's Hypoxia, Ardalan's Do The Way and Walker & Royce's Wakey Wakey. M.F.S. Observatory's Ages keeps the Street Tracks run moving, while Kill Frenzy's Answering Machine and My Cat Snoop's Ghost alternate between deeper and more open rhythmic passages. Walker & Royce return with Gimme, then Jon Gurd's Inner Sphere and Lord Leopard's Juiced hold the programme in its house-led late stretch.
Kill Frenzy's 101, Mescal Kids' Take It Down and Risque De Choc's Rue De Martyrs build towards the final selections from the Street Tracks catalogue. Krywald & Farrer's Foli Djembe gives way to Deejay Astral's Phantasy, closing the episode with a deeper final turn.
