Anonymous Z presents the Not So Anonymous 40 episode on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Anonymous Z is highly regarded in Saigon, Vietnam, for pioneering the Mad Circus epic parties. Known as a harbinger of chaos to the soul, he established Bahrain's first underground DJ collective, Glassroom.
He led a varied group of eccentrics from different backgrounds, organising parties and after-parties, some lawful and some not, which became part of local nightlife lore. His guiding principle during this period was a statement of resistance: "They tried to bury us, but they didn't realize we were seeds."
He became a key member of the Banana Hustle crew and contributed to the tropical-themed atmosphere of its Ho Chi Minh City events. Although he began with a focus on Techno, his tastes broadened to Afro, House, Disco and Funk as he sought out distinctive tracks.
He contributes to the collective experience through selections of Techno and contemporary Indie Dance. His skill as a disc jockey has brought invitations to play at Vietnamese underground venues including Arcan, The Lighthouse, Broma and Vitamin D after-parties.
His sets are often non-linear and improvised, responding to the crowd's energy through groovy basslines and grand, narrative-led melodies. He develops his sound through world music and an interest in the origins of electronic music.
Occasionally, his performances move into trippy, dark downtempo material with tribal and South American elements. He also makes groovy yet sombre Leftfield Electro arrangements, incorporating Indie Dance, Nu Disco, Electroclash, New Wave, Wave, New Beat, Dark Wave and Dark Disco.
Within the underground scenes of the Middle East and Vietnam, he has developed an appreciation for dark, hypnotic rhythms. He moves between evocative ethnic sounds and grandiose synths, bringing intense basslines and rhythmic percussion to the dance floor.
For this episode, Not So Anonymous explores cybernetic and space-shuttle sounds alongside the enigmatic imagery of travel between planets. Anonymous Z selected two lively, robotic tracks by his friend Anwar K, a.k.a Cyber Loom, from Discal.

The episode opens with Anwar K, a.k.a Cyber Loom's Cyberdrive, before Truth's Robot Society in the ColtCuts Remix brings Dubstep pressure from Deep Dark & Dangerous. Anwar K returns with Rewired AlgoRhythms (Interlude), setting up Middle Sky Boom's Souvenirs on N I G H T N O I S E.
Niv Ast and Cornelius Doctor's Poisson d'argent on Correspondant and Tulioxi's The Outside on N I G H T N O I S E establish the programme's Indie Dance centre. Skelesys's Do You Know, remixed by Curses for Rotten City Files, keeps the tension taut.
Vini Pistori's Galactic on Nereau Records introduces Melodic House and Techno before Dionigi's Dark Force on Quantistic Division returns to the darker club focus. Motel77's Three On The Floor in Sascha Funke's Duro remix follows with a firm rhythmic line.
Vini Pistori's Arsenic on Not Another and Ferrari's Tellurico on Aeon sustain the mid-set intensity. Sinchi Music's Hyperborea on N I G H T N O I S E brings Electronica into view, while Qubica's E Fever on Buttress tightens the mood again.
Shero's Electrosexual remix of Berlin Moon on KlubKid Records extends the electronic detail before Space Manoeuvres' Shan remix of Stage One on Hooj Choons shifts towards Progressive House. Mono Han's Contact Light on N.O.I.A. Records and Tiempo De Maldad's Roliva remix of Sounds of Nibiru hold the nocturnal direction.
Naufragi's Gahinga on Slow Motion and Dino Soccio's edit of Star Beaming prepare the final stretch, where Ma Spaventi and Daniel Monaco's Sunray on Emerald & Doreen Records meets Biesmans's Top Gun I on Aeon. Cooper Saver's Pacific Visions on Internasjonal gives way to Yarni's Gullfoss on N I G H T N O I S E, bringing House Music into the close before Andrew Claristidge's Cosmo Vitelli relecture of And Now You Dance on Mille Feuilles finishes in Electro.
