El Brujo presents El Brujo and the Wild Bunch episode 12 with guest DJ COACH on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station and music-news platform serving listeners across Asia.
El Brujo, whose real name is Robert Milanesi, was born in Italy in 1964 and developed an attachment to music from an early age. In 1994, he became one of the founding figures of Bologna’s underground rave scene, and his first official release, Warriors, arrived on Milan label Open Legs in 2008.
His label, Jambalay Records, launched at its opening party at Club Geminis in Ibiza harbour, Spain, in 2010. The label reached a worldwide audience when its release was included by Maya Jane Coles in her February Chart 2011.
That release was Mozambique, a collaboration with Big Mojo and his first physical CD release, Nutty Fellas Are Go. In January 2019, Plastic Dreams, originally released on Frameworkxx, reached number 33 in the Beatport Hard Techno Top 100.
El Brujo has releases on Elektrax, Frameworkxx, LW Recordings, Subwoofer, Berlin After Dark, Music Is The Drug, Gobekli Tepe, Fortwin Rec, Bunker, Mad Rhythm, SE7ENS and Physical Techno, among others. His work takes a raw approach across different genres, and the Wild Bunch programme was intended to introduce a guest DJ from his circle of Techno producers and artists each month.
For this edition, El Brujo selects promos and records by his regular collaborators alongside guest DJ COACH. The tracklist brings together releases from Suara, Trench, Jambalay Records, LETS Techno and Starskream.
Guest DJ COACH (second hour)
This shows guest is COACH, COACH's real name is Ryan Kennedy and he is an artist, producer, DJ and drummer hailing from Montreal, Canada. He has held a deep love of music his whole life and began DJing aged 15 in the confines of his bedroom.
Then in 2012, he found his calling card within the rave scene of the underground scene of Montreal. With his natural skills with rhythm and beats after years of exposure to reading a crowd, and matching tracks he quickly became a well-known Disk Jockey amongst the ravers in his home city.
His joyful and jumpy sets are body shaking and ground moving, and thus every time he takes the wheels of steel his fans are ready to bounce from the offset till the end of the night. He excels in multiple genres with House, Tech House and Techno being at the forefront of his style, but always with a keen ear for other genres of electronica.
Ryan has earned himself a plethora of revellers that continues to blossom every time he dons the turntables. His undeniable sparkle and love of the music, and the passion he has for his followers are unparalleled.
His name is always spreading through the crowd at events and you can be sure to hear his name as he continues his journey into greatness, enjoy the show.
El Brujo and the Wild Bunch episode 12 with COACH opens with DJQ’s Dark Voices, a PROMO cut rooted in Peak Time Techno. Coyu’s Contraindication on Suara and Petri Petro’s Sofia Alcon remix of Icarus on UBeatCode bring in Hard Techno alongside the peak-time material.
DJ D ReDD follows with the PROMO track Nosedive, before DJQ returns with Polygon Effect. MaKaJa Gonzales’ Checking You Out keeps the harder focus in place, while Chris Van Deer’s West Bass XB on Trench restores the peak-time emphasis.
Trench supplies Emison’s Between Dream And Reality, followed by DJ D ReDD’s PROMO selection Take Em Out. MaKaJa Gonzales then contributes If You Read My Mind, another PROMO record that holds the set’s harder line.
Dadgar’s 24/7 appears first in its original form on Jambalay Records and then as a COACH remix on the same label. Machine John’s COACH remix of Nothing Is Real and COACH’s I’m Trying, both on LETS Techno, lead into Atroxx’s CP171 on Starskream.
Dadgar’s COACH remix of Hard Styler on LETS Techno precedes Mayfie’s Starskream record Controverse. UNDFND’s Domino Effect, also on Starskream, follows with another peak-time selection before the final harder sequence.
Bip0lar’s A New Plague on Starskream raises the intensity ahead of Three Faces Of Eve’s Tempted on the same label. COACH closes the programme with Let It Die, a Starskream track that gives the guest DJ the final word.
