Anonymous Z presents Not So Anonymous 22 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Anonymous Z is mostly famous in Saigon, Vietnam, as the founder of Mad Circus Epic parties. He founded Glassroom, Bahrain's first underground DJ community, and led its members in legal and illegal parties and after-parties that local nightlife remembers as legendary.
His motto then was "They tried to bury us, but they forgot we were seeds". He joined the Banana Hustle crew during its punchy tropical period and helped develop its distinctive vibe.
Originally a Techno head, he developed a taste for digging out unusual tracks across Afro-influenced music, House Music, Disco and Funk. He complements these selections with hand-picked techno and recent Indie Dance.
His strong abilities as a selecta brought him to underground venues including Arcan, The Lighthouse, and Broma and Vitamin D after-parties. His non-linear sets are often improvised and led by the dance floor, moving through varied styles with tense, groovy bass lines and playful melodic storytelling.
He explores world music and the earliest era of electro, resulting in trippy, dark downtempo sets with tribal and South American influences. Other selections favour dark, groove-led leftfield electro infused with Nu-Disco, Electroclash, Wave, New Beat and Dark Disco.
Anonymous Z's Not So Anonymous show 22 opens with Cabaret Nocturne's Wrong Tragedy in the Undo Remix on Factor City, establishing a taut Peak Time Techno edge. Iron Blu and Rock Serling follow with the Wolfstream Remix of Sweet Redemption on Rotten City Files, taking the opening into indie dance territory.
Identified Patient's OCTrax on Pinkman and Thomass Jackson's Think About C on La Dame Noir Records keep the indie dance focus in place. The later Simple Symmetry Remix of Mijo featuring Local Suicide's Ganz Falsch and Tronik Youth's remix of Illusory Damages' You Were Wrong add further off-centre dancefloor material.
Kalipo and Local Suicide's Radial Gaze Remix of Crocodile on Hold Your Ground introduces a sharper Electro turn. W.O.L.F.'s Fausto Remix of Contrxtxcx ft Flow Capistran then sits before C.A.R. and Maceo Plex's Dark Dub of Mirror Me on KNM, bringing in Tech House.
Blowender's Damon Jee Remix of The Phase on Blindetonation returns to indie dance, followed by Cosmo Vitelli's When Suddenly: Acid on I'm A Cliché. Their placement keeps the middle of the set dark and club-focused without losing its leftfield character.
Depeche Mode's Tiefshwartz Remix of John The Revelator on Mute provides a Progressive House passage before 80xx's Grindr. Robert Hood's UR Mad Mike Remix of Black Technician on Music Man Records restores the peak-time techno pressure.
Commuter's Systemausfall on Space Factory and Casino Times' Rigopolar Remix of Kawai on Mireia guide the final stretch back through indie dance. Emmanuel Top's Balthazar and JackRock Remix of This Is Cocaine on Filth on Acid closes the selection with a firm techno finish.
