Anonymous Z presents Not So Anonymous show 21 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Anonymous Z is mostly famous in Saigon, Vietnam, as the founder of Mad Circus Epic parties. He also founded Glassroom, Bahrain's first underground DJ community, bringing together a group of misfits from different backgrounds.
As Glassroom's organiser, he staged parties and after-parties, legal and otherwise, that local nightlife remembers as legendary. His motto at the time was "They tried to bury us, but they forgot we were seeds".
After joining the Banana Hustle crew in its punchy tropical frenzy, he helped develop its distinct vibe. Originally a Techno head, he developed a taste for digging out distinctive Afro, House, Disco and Funk records.
His selections combine hand-picked Techno with more recent Indie Dance. His strong abilities as a selecta led to appearances at underground venues including Arcan, The Lighthouse, Broma and Vitamin D after-parties.
His non-linear sets are often improvised in response to the dance floor, using tense, grooving bass lines and melodic storytelling that plays with emotion. He explores world music and the oldest age of electro, moving between trippy, dark downtempo sets with tribal and South American influence and darker, groove-focused Leftfield Electro.
That broader approach also incorporates Nu Disco, Electroclash, Indie Dance, Wave, New Beat and Dark Disco. The programme's tracklist follows those interests through an extended selection of varied electronic records.
Anonymous Z's Not So Anonymous show 21 opens with Conundrum Concoction's List Of Ingredients on 75 BPM, a hypnotically dub introduction before Apiento & Co's The Light Machine brings Electronica from Golf Channel Recordings. Rigopolar's Starlock on Nazca Records (2) then adds Nu-Disco, while Juliano Gomez's Ohxala remix of Wouma on Lump Records eases into Downtempo.
Yolanda Frei and Jane Ule's Irrwisch is followed by Tecwaa's Urexboyfriend remix of 19th Street Lost, released through Sulk Magic. DaWad's Dancing Delight feat. Dr. No on La Dame Noir Records introduces the set's sustained Indie Dance current, with Cannibal Ink's The Bible Kills - FK Club Remix following in the running order.
Javier Busto's K-Effect remix of Dopamine on NUFF MUSIC and Uj Pa Gaz's Braksterdam on Tici Taci keep the rhythm taut. Mekine U Teksi's Dissimilation precedes Bufi's Hanzo & Yaman remix of Baile Muerto, which returns to Nu-Disco through Belly Dance Services.
Cannibal Ink's Le Petit Prince on Nein Records gives way to Cornelius Doctor and Tushen's Pletnev remix of Centrafreak on Hard Fist. Antoine's Overtones and Pardon Moi's Touch2Much maintain the darker club-focused direction before the next run of remixes.
Middle Sky Boom and Eliezer's Middle Sky Boom remix of Bias Boys on La Dame Noir Records meets Kris Baha's Beatthemachine on Pinkman. Cornelius Doctor's Sparkling Plasma feat. Fringe Society follows before Irregular Disco Workers' Thomass Jackson remix of Blindfolded brings High Above The Ground into the sequence.
Ed Dix's Hybriduntz on Belly Dance Services leads into Cabaret Nocturne's Jonathan Kusuma remix of Blind Trust, bringing House Music from Rotten City Files into the closing stretch. Cabizbajo's DaWad remix of I See You on Nein Records and Celestino's Daniel Monaco remix of Sehnsucht on Espacio CIELO finish the programme in its shadowy Indie Dance territory.
