DJ Marco Mei of the Italian duo Bicycle Corporation presents his 2020 episode 19 programme on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Marco Mei, an Italian DJ with nearly thirty years of experience, began his career in the early nineties and developed a deep appreciation for Afrocentric and electronic music. His early career included appearances at clubs and festivals across Italy, where he shared the stage with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
In the early 2000s, Marco secured a residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh, which led to extensive international touring. He has played at venues including OBS in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei and Shore Club in Hoi An.
In 2009, Marco and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, formed the production duo Bicycle Corporation, which has released more than 50 tracks and remixes. Based in Taipei, Marco performs regularly in the capital, works across a wider South East Asian network, is available for bookings through the DJ agency and broadcasts weekly.
The original programme aired on Saturday, 16 May 2020, with a selection that combines House, Disco, Synth Pop and Tech House material. Frankie Knuckles’ Your Love in the Luigi Tozzi edit, Madonna’s Hung Up in the Lukea edit and BB’s Hey Ladies establish an opening built from familiar vocal references and club edits.
Marco Mei's 2020 episode 19 programme then reaches Unknown Artist’s A1 on Vibes Ltd and Subjoi’s Fairfax on Distant Hawaii, placing the early section in House Music. Luca Dell’Orso follows with Excessive Dance on XXX, while Theus Mago’s No More Hands on Playground Records adds an Indie Dance edge.
Julian Wassermann and Henri Bergmann’s Dust, featuring Anaphase, brings a more atmospheric passage through Melodic House and Techno on Stil Vor Talent. Chab’s Roberto Traista unofficial remix of Closer To Me, Depeche Mode’s Lukea vocal edit of Enjoy The Silence and the J.Kusuma remix of Adolpho & Franky and Holger Zilske’s Laboratory keep the middle section focused on edits and reinterpretations.
DJ Tonka’s She Knows You on Tonka Tunes returns the programme to a direct club rhythm before Paris Groove’s Underground Disco. DJOKO’s Be Real on Crammed Discs and The Whispers’ DJ Delivery edit of I Can Make It Better extend the vocal-led section without breaking its pace.
Basement Jaxx’s Plug It In in Armand Van Helden’s remix arrives on XL Recordings, followed by Mirco Caruso’s All About You and Camisra’s Let Me Show You on Duty Free Recordings. Claudio Tempesta’s Start The Dance on kluBasic Records introduces Nu-Disco, before Villes Wax’s Let's Go to the Disco on Villes et Fleurs returns to Indie Dance.
Hurlee’s Confiture Du Jour on Ondule Recordings supplies a Funky House lift near the close. DeRijk’s An Evening With Soplica and Black Coffee featuring Sabrina’s SBCNCSLY complete the final stretch with a measured club focus.
