Marco Mei presents his 2019 episode 20 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music news platform connecting audiences across the region and internationally.
Marco Mei is an Italian DJ and producer with more than three decades of experience. His formative years coincided with the emergence of Afrobeat and electronic music, and he began DJing in the early 1990s.
Over the following years, he performed at festivals and nightclubs around the world. He has shared the turntables with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon, Sander Kleinenberg, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero, Justin Berkmann and Funk D’Void.
A residency at Pacha in Sharm El Sheikh brought Marco to international audiences and led to further DJ work abroad. His underground club appearances include Arcan in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Their combined DJ experience gave the duo a strong foundation for production.
Drawing on House and Techno, their releases attracted early support and led to a deal with 17:44. Their work has appeared through labels including Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox.
Bicycle Corporation has released well over fifty tracks and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno. Their music has received plays from DJs including Sneak, Mauro Picotto, Dubfire, Axwell, Danny Tenaglia and Above & Beyond.
Based in Taiwan, Marco’s 2013 track Ciao Taipei was a local revelation and helped connect him with an expanding network of internationally recognised artists on Scientific Sound Asia Radio. His work also links him with a wider Southeast Asian network of clubs, events and electronic music activity.
His weekly show spans Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic House and Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency.
DJ Marco Mei's 2019 episode 20 openswith RALPH TV in Baltra’s remix before Eli & Nomi and a private version of Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five” bring contrasting house and jazz touches into the opening run. Butane with Riko Forinson and Fries & Bridges then pull the mix deeper into House Music, keeping the first section loose and groove-led.
Michael Gray, Monkey Safari and Tiger & Woods broaden the middle of the set with funkier and more melodic material before Ralphie Rosario and Gypsymen reconnect with classic club influences. Paride Saraceni and Iliar follow as the mix gradually develops a stronger Tech House pulse.
Jamie Jones and Darius Syrossian’s “Rushing” keeps that house foundation intact before Ozzi and David Keno lead towards a tougher section. Tom Laws, ROBPM and Ejeca increase the pressure further, shifting Marco Mei into Techno without losing the rhythmic continuity of the earlier tracks.
Josh Wink featuring Ursula Rucker provides one of the strongest techno moments with Shlomi Aber’s remix of “Sixth Sense,” followed by Nina Kraviz and Yotto. “Shifter” introduces Progressive House into the final stretch, easing the transition from the harder middle section into a more melodic close.
Nitro Deluxe’s “This Brutal House” reaches back to early house history before DJ Koze closes with “Pick Up,” bringing the programme back towards warmer disco and house influences. Across Episode 20, Marco Mei moves through house, tech house and techno with progressive, deep and funkier elements appearing throughout the selection.
