Marco Mei announces play list for his new radio show

DJ Marco Mei presents his 2019 episode 19 radio show on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.

Marco Mei is an Italian DJ and producer with more than twenty-five years of experience. His early years learning about music coincided with the emergence of Afrobeat and electronic music.

He began DJing in the early 1990s and later performed at festivals and nightclubs around the world, sharing decks with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon, Sander Kleinenberg, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero and Justin Berkmann. His work in Turin also connected him with the Urban People collective during the development of the city’s electronic music scene.

A residency at Pacha Club in Sharm-El-Sheikh marked an important stage in his career. It led to appearances at underground venues including Arcan in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, Room 18 in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, SOS Supper Club in Bali and NLO in Minsk.

In 2009, Marco formed the duo Bicycle Corporation with Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. Their experience as DJs and solo producers gave the partnership a strong foundation.

Drawing on years of work in house and techno music, Bicycle Corporation soon attracted attention for its releases. The duo signed with the 17:44 record label and also released music through Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, GrooveTraxx, Suka and Revox.

Over subsequent years, Bicycle Corporation released more than fifty tracks and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno. Their music has received plays from DJs including Sneak, Mauro Picotto, Dubfire, Axwell, Danny Tenaglia and Above & Beyond.

Based in Taipei, Marco is part of a wider South East Asian network of artists, clubs and events, while his track “Ciao Taipei” was a local revelation in 2013. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, and his weekly show is broadcast through the radio station.

His weekly selections span Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. Episode 19 follows that broad approach, moving from house-rooted material into firmer late-set club records.

DJ Marco Mei’s 2019 episode 19 radio show opens with Emmanuel Jal and Nyaruach’s Ti Chuong in Musumeci’s Supernatural Remix, an Afro House release on MoBlack Records. Ditongo’s Internazionale on Degustibus Music and Vigi’s Together on NDYD Records establish the early House Music direction.

Loods brings Walking Away from Classic Music Company into Deep House, before Demon’s You Are My High on Help Yourself Records adds an Indie Dance edge. Dirty Channels versus Danny Russell then take Watchin Out, released by Athens Of The North, towards a Disco-House feel, while The Wizard Brian Coxx and Morsy answer with Z.U.L.U. on Good For You Records.

The Beloved’s Sweet Harmony in the Tout De Suite Dub Mix, issued through New State Music, restores the house emphasis after the programme’s edit-led middle section. DJ Haus follows with Too Much Data on Dance Trax before Raumakustik’s Patrick Topping remix of Dem A Pree on Emerald City Music introduces Tech House.

Leftwing & Kody’s Paul Woolford remix of I Feel It on Toolroom Records moves back into House Music, followed by Immature’s Be Strong on Big Love Trax. Eli Brown’s BS48 on Big Beat Records brings the late section back to Tech House with a more forceful club focus.

Third Wife’s Easy on Concrete Lab takes the programme into Peak Time Techno. Extreme Trax then supplies Final Fantasy on Bonzai Classics, bringing a Main Floor Trance passage before the final techno records.

Charlotte de Witte’s Selected on KNTXT carries the Peak Time Techno intensity into the close. Her Remember, released on Drumcode, gives Marco Mei’s episode a decisive final record and completes its progression from Afro House and House Music to the tougher end of the set.
