Marco Mei presented the Asian Tour radio show on Scientific Sound Asia in 2018. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences in Asia and internationally.
The programme accompanied a run of four Bali appearances that took place that weekend at Pyramid Bali, Vertigo Rooftop in Kuta, Coccon Beach Club and The Best Brew. These dates placed the broadcast within a period of club activity for the Italian DJ in Indonesia.
Marco began DJing in Turin in 1991, during the formative years of the city’s underground House and Techno culture. His early work established the broad club foundations that have informed his selections and international appearances.
He was associated with Turin’s Urban People collective, through which he helped organise events and support electronic music in the city. That experience connected his DJ work with a local scene shaped by independent club activity.
A residency at Pacha in Sharm el-Sheikh marked an important stage in Marco’s work beyond Italy. It was followed by appearances at venues including Woo Bar in Bali, The Mansion in Shanghai, Fuse in Brussels and The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City.
Those bookings placed him before audiences in Europe, North Africa and Asia, with each venue bringing a distinct club setting. The Bali dates documented here therefore formed part of a wider history of international DJ work rather than an isolated visit.
In 2009, Marco formed Bicycle Corporation with Italian producer Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. The collaboration has produced more than fifty productions and remixes across Deep House, Tech House, French House and Techno.
Bicycle Corporation’s confirmed releases have appeared through Alchemy, Miniatures, WL77, Suka and GrooveTraxx. The project gives Marco a production partnership alongside his solo DJ work and radio programming.
Marco’s individual selections draw on a club-focused knowledge of House, Deep House, Tech House, Disco and Techno. He also shares updates on radio editions, collaborations and solo work through his Facebook page.
Marco is based in Taipei and works across a wider South East Asian network of clubs, events and electronic music activity. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency and broadcasts weekly through the Scientific Sound Asia radio station.
Adam Port opens with Planet 9 on Diynamic, establishing a Melodic House and Techno direction. Alex Metric and Ten Ven follow with Nebula on Diynamic, while ARTBAT’s Papillon on fryhide keeps the opening atmospheric.
Carl Bee’s Pacer on Green holds the melodic thread before Cartoon’s David Duriez remix of First To Break brings in Deep House through Brique Rouge. Icarus then returns to the earlier mood with Echoes on FFRR.
Lorna’s Jackin Jump Flash on Voltaire Music introduces Tech House with a more direct club focus. THEMBA follows with Better Days on Saved Records, extending that firmer rhythmic section.
Gesaffelstein’s Control Movement on Bromance raises the pressure with Peak Time Techno. B.B.E.’s Yotto remix of Seven Days And One Week on Positiva then introduces Trance (Main Floor) before Solomun’s Customer Is King on Diynamic restores the melodic framework.
Uri Mood’s Got NYC on Club Session brings Tech House back into focus in the later run. Zinhle Mashaba and Leeamise follow with You’re Gonna Get There on Lowplay Sound, adding an Afro House entry.
The Maceo Plex edit of The Smiths’ How Soon Is Now? on Sire turns the closing stretch towards House Music. Yotam Avni closes with Pentimento on Rebirth, returning the programme to Tech House for its final record.
