DJ Marco Mei presents the 31 October 2020 edition of his new show on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Marco Mei is an Italian DJ and producer with nearly three decades of experience behind the decks. During his formative years, he developed a strong interest in Afrobeat, Reggae, Funk, Disco, early Hip Hop and electronic music styles.
He began working as a DJ in Italy during the early 1990s, playing for crowds at venues across the country. Festival and club appearances around the world followed, where he shared bills with Roger Sanchez, David Morales, Ralph Falcon and Sander Kleinenberg.
An early-2000s residency at Pacha Club in Sharm el-Sheikh marked an important stage in Marco’s career. He subsequently toured internationally, appearing at OBS in Saigon, Fuse in Brussels, CE' LA VI in Taipei, Shore Club in Hoi An, Bangaluu in Berlin, G-Star in Pattaya, Woobar in Bali and Global Dance Moscow, among other venues.
In 2009, Marco joined Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884, to form the production duo Bicycle Corporation. Together, they have made more than 50 tracks and remixes since beginning their collaboration.
Their productions found an audience within the House Music community. Marco moved to Taipei, Taiwan, in the early 2010s and regularly performed at clubs and venues across the city.
Based in Taipei, Marco works across a wider South East Asian network of clubs, events and electronic music activity. He is available for bookings through the Scientific Sound Asia DJ agency, while his weekly programme is broadcast through the radio station.
His weekly selections draw on Deep House, Tech House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Nu-Disco, Indie Dance, Electronica and Techno. That breadth frames the 31 October edition, which moves between house-rooted rhythm, melodic club material and tougher electronic passages.
Marco Mei’s 31 October 2020 episode opens with Bande Gamboa’s Pe Di Bissilon in the Detroit Swindle remix, an Afro House release on Pura Vida Sounds. Mainro follows with Nightshift on Family N.A.M.E, bringing in Melodic House and Techno before Chanell Collen and Dolly Charmaine appear on PIMH.
Pavel Khvaleev and Miss Monique’s Silent in its Dub Mix moves through Progressive House on Visceral. Sobek’s Musumeci remix of Geiling Agent, released by Secret Fusion, then gives the programme an Indie Dance edge.
The Martians’ Tobacco Ties on Red Planet brings the selection into Deep House. Trance Wax’s Calling For You on Anjunabeats follows with main-floor Trance energy.
Radio Slave’s Nic Fanciulli remix of Live My Life on Rekids brings Tech House into focus. Loco Dice’s instrumental mix of Out Of Reach, issued through Desolat, adds a Funky House passage before Hector Couto’s Ciroco on Muna Musik returns to Deep House.
Joris Voorn’s Nea Skioni on Global Underground revisits Melodic House and Techno, while Zombies In Miami’s Flashback Mantra on Hippie Dance returns to Indie Dance. Aaron Maple’s Yebe Sebik then leads into DAVI’s Lie Machine on Crosstown Rebels, bringing Afro House back into the late section.
Deborah De Luca’s Last Song For You on Solamente brings a Peak Time Techno finish to the confirmed club material. La Fabrica’s A Homage To Frankfurt Farmacia, LCD Soundsystem’s Dixon retouch of I Used To and Roxy Music’s Glimmers remix of Same Old Scene complete the programme with an electronic final stretch.
