Nocturne is back for Cali’s HouseNation Radio with guest DJ Blitsize

Cali’s HouseNation Radio returns with another edition hosted by Nocturne, this time featuring guest DJ Blitsize on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.

Originally from Los Angeles and now based in San Diego, Nocturne began DJing in 2007 under the name DJ Turiz. His early sets covered Reggaeton, Hip Hop, Bachata, Merengue, Salsa and Cumbia, giving him experience across several different dancefloor cultures in Southern California.

His attention shifted increasingly towards electronic music in 2013 as House and deeper underground styles became more important to his selections. During this period, he co-founded Digital Audio Kingz with DJ MORE and expanded into FM radio, providing another platform for developing his programming and reaching new listeners.

The Nocturne project emerged in 2018 alongside the launch of Cali’s HouseNation Radio. Built around the many different forms of House Music, the programme subsequently developed into an internationally syndicated series through the CHNR Syndication Network.

Radio has remained central to Nocturne’s work, allowing him to combine the instincts developed through club DJing with longer-form programming. His broadcasts favour carefully structured selections where groove, atmosphere and progression are given room to develop across the programme.

Alongside Cali’s HouseNation Radio, Nocturne presents On the Deep End and Deep House Sessions under the DAK Music banner. These programmes provide space for deeper Progressive House, Deep House and melodic electronic material while maintaining the rhythmic focus found throughout his wider work.

His approach to House reflects the broad musical background established during his years as DJ Turiz. Rather than treating different styles as isolated categories, he uses his experience with multiple genres and audiences to connect records through rhythm and pacing.

Cali’s HouseNation Radio has also developed into a platform for guest DJs and producers from the international House community. The series combines Nocturne’s own selections with contributions from established artists and emerging talent, extending the network surrounding the programme beyond its California origins.

That international outlook complements Nocturne’s continued connection with the West Coast electronic music scene. His work across broadcasting, DJing and the CHNR Syndication Network provides several outlets for presenting contemporary House while supporting artists working across its different underground styles.

This edition continues the format with guest DJ Blitsize joining Nocturne on the programme. Her contribution brings another perspective to a series built around House Music, underground club culture and the exchange of music between DJs working in different scenes.

Guest DJ Blitsize.

This week’s guest DJ is Blitsize, a selector known for an eclectic approach and a broad interest in electronic music. Her sets draw on different scenes and styles, combining energy with a willingness to move beyond conventional genre boundaries.

Over the past several years, Blitsize has developed a sound that brings together House, Techno and Hi-NRG with darker and more alternative influences. Dark Disco, New Wave, Post-Punk, EBM and Synth-Pop all form part of a musical vocabulary that allows her to work across contrasting moods and rhythmic approaches.

Rather than building her identity around one fixed style, she uses contrast as an important part of her DJing. Different tempos, textures and energies can sit alongside one another while maintaining a strong sense of direction.

That flexibility gives her programming a dynamic quality and allows her to adapt to different types of events. Her approach is shaped by both dancefloor awareness and a wider interest in electronic and alternative music culture.

Blitsize is also part of the Burdo collective, where her involvement extends beyond DJing into event organisation and collaborative sound experiences. The collective has focused on creating events that move beyond conventional club formats and give artists greater freedom in how music is presented.

That combination of eclectic selection, club awareness and collaborative activity has helped shape Blitsize’s identity as a DJ. Her work reflects an interest in both dancefloor functionality and the broader musical cultures surrounding electronic music.

For her appearance on Cali’s HouseNation Radio, Blitsize joins Nocturne as the featured guest DJ. Her contribution brings another individual perspective to the programme, drawing on the wide-ranging musical background that has shaped her work behind the decks.

Nocturne opens the first hour with DJ Dan and DJ Mes before Hatiras, Re-Tide with Mattei & Omich, and The Cube Guys establish a strong Funky House foundation. GENNARO keeps that energetic groove intact before STEB shifts the mix towards a straighter House Music feel.

Ridney, Daniel Steinberg, SILAS and Max Winfield with Inaya Day continue the house section with a tighter club focus and a balance of vocal and percussive material. Marc Lenz then opens the door to Tech House, followed by Lujan Fernandez with Arhouse, Jordy Salazar, Chris Tietjen with Christian Burkhardt and Beyond Limits.

Nocturne’s hour therefore develops in a clear arc from Funky House into House and then Tech House, with (ino)2 closing the section on an unidentified-genre bootleg that remains unclassified. The progression gives the first half a club-focused identity, moving from looser disco-influenced grooves into more stripped-back and percussive material.

DJ Blitsize takes the second hour in a very different direction, beginning with Miami Horror and Indeep before Boy Harsher’s remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs brings an alternative edge. Opolopo’s remix of Jungle then introduces Indie Dance before the Heart Of Glass bootleg and The Magician’s remix of Lykke Li continue the eclectic crossover approach.

Pet Shop Boys, Elia y Elizabeth and Jain keep the middle of the hour rooted in dance-pop, disco and remix culture rather than conventional club-house sequencing. Amber Mark, Mind Enterprises and Automatic broaden the palette again through rock, electronic and indie influences, giving Blitsize’s selection a far more open-format character.

Claptone’s remix of Gorillaz and Jehnny Beth closes the second hour by bringing the programme back towards House Music after a long run of alternative, indie and dance selections. Across Episode 321, Nocturne delivers a focused Funky House, House and Tech House first hour, while DJ Blitsize answers with an eclectic blend of House, Indie Dance, Dance, Alternative Rock and Pop-oriented material.

Join us for the live broadcast of the show on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from 4 PM to 6 PM Indochina Time (ICT). If you are unable to listen to it live, a replay will be available on Wednesday from 4 AM to 6 AM (ICT).
