The show opens with a selection of classic dancehall and reggae cuts, featuring Sanchez, Kenny Knots, Jahtari, and King General, establishing a foundation rooted in Caribbean vocal traditions. Tracks from Sugar Minott, Frankie Paul, and Errol Bellot underscore the reggae and dancehall heritage that runs through the mix.
The middle section shifts into dub and roots reggae territory, with contributions from Linval Thomson and Sherriff, Pad Anthony, and Dub Syndicate featuring Lee Perry on the On-U Sound label. This segment showcases the deeper, more experimental side of reggae production, with dub plates and remixes from artists such as Manasseh Meets The Equalizer and More Rockers.
A notable turn towards drum and bass and jungle emerges with Congo Natty's 'Jungle Is I and I' on Big Dada, followed by remixed versions from DJ Rap and Chopstick Dubplate, bringing breakbeats and fast-tempo rhythms into the mix. Tracks from Remarc and Deekline and Bad Zuke maintain this energy, whilst Hybrid Theory's 'The Edge' introduces UK garage influences.
The latter half incorporates contemporary electronic and afro-influenced material, including Poirier's 'Kypoli' remix on Nice Up!, Sauvage FM and Rémi L's 'Habib!', and Moresounds' 'Analog Steak' remix, blending afro house and dubstep sensibilities. Keys N Krates' 'Dum Dee Dum' remix and Hot Chip's 'Look at Where We Are' major lazer mix add dance and dub elements to the proceedings.
The final section features Jstar's own productions, including 'Dub Truth', 'My Truth' featuring Micala, and 'Fish Finger Tentacle Dub', alongside his remix of Dub Terminator's 'Bad Mind' on Dan Dada Records. The show concludes with Mr Benn's 'Stand Up' on Nice Up!, bringing the mix full circle with electronica and contemporary club sensibilities.
