Francesco Conti and Friends episode 3 welcomes guest DJ Pier Giorgio Marini for another edition of the series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform serving listeners across the region and internationally.
Francesco Conti is an Italian DJ and producer from Rome whose background is closely connected with the city’s radio, club and rave culture. Growing up around the electronic music that shaped the late 1980s and early 1990s, he became particularly influenced by Acid House and Techno.
He began working with radio stations in Rome in 1992 while also developing his experience in the capital’s nightclub scene. Those early years gave him a strong foundation in underground electronic music that he would continue to reinterpret through his own DJ sets and production work.
Over time, Francesco developed a personal approach to the Acid House and Techno influences that had first drawn him towards electronic music. Rather than simply reproducing the sounds of that period, he incorporated them into a broader style shaped by decades of experience behind the decks.
In 2003, Francesco relocated to Italy’s Adriatic coast and continued expanding his activity as a DJ. Three years later, he won the Equinox DJ Competition in Riccione against sixteen other Italian DJs, giving his career another important step forward.
That result opened further opportunities in Ibiza, where he went on to take part in events on the island over the following years. The experience added another international dimension to a career already developed through radio, club performance and electronic music culture in Italy.
Francesco later moved further into production and began building a catalogue of original releases, remixes and collaborations. His work can be explored through SoundCloud and Beatport, documenting the studio side of a career that began through DJing and radio.
His label activity has included an ongoing relationship with Jambalay Records from 2017 onwards. Those releases added another outlet for his electronic music while allowing him to develop ideas informed by years of experience in clubs and behind the decks.
Radio has remained an important part of Francesco’s career, including collaborations with stations such as United Techno Familia and YouMixRadio. His long involvement with broadcasting connects directly back to the environment in which he first developed as a DJ during the early 1990s.
Across more than three decades of activity, Francesco has performed alongside numerous internationally recognised DJs and continued developing his musical outlook through new collaborations and production work. His wider catalogue is also available through Spotify, connecting his current releases with the long career behind them.
Francesco Conti and Friends gives him a dedicated platform for combining his own musical background with selections from invited artists. Episode 3 continues that format with guest DJ Pier Giorgio Marini, adding another perspective to a series rooted in underground electronic music and Francesco’s long-standing connection with radio.

Guest DJ Pier Giorgio Marini.
This episode’s guest is Pier Giorgio Marini, an Italian DJ and producer whose career began in 1989. His work centres primarily on Tech House and other areas of House music, supported by a catalogue of releases developed over several decades.
Since the beginning of his career, Pier Giorgio has performed at clubs and venues across Italy and elsewhere in Europe. Those appearances gave him a broad base of experience behind the decks while keeping him connected with changing styles of House and underground electronic music.
His production work has appeared through a range of independent labels, including Mastercut Records, House Place Records, Kattivo Records and Jambalay Records. These releases document a studio career that has developed alongside his long-standing activity as a DJ.
Radio has also played an important role in his musical history. One of his earliest residencies was the Il Castello show on Mix FM during the early 1990s, adding broadcasting to his work in clubs and production.
Over the years, Pier Giorgio has continued to balance DJing, radio and studio work rather than focusing on only one part of the industry. That combination has allowed him to remain closely connected with both recorded music and live performance.
After taking a step back from production and regular appearances for several years, he later returned to the scene with a fresh perspective. The break gave him space to reassess his musical direction before resuming his work as a DJ and producer.
His appearance on Francesco Conti and Friends episode 3 brings that long experience into the programme. Pier Giorgio Marini adds a House and Tech House perspective shaped by club performance, radio broadcasting and a production career that stretches back to the late 1980s.
Francesco Conti opens the first hour with N86 before Emison, Kamil Grzmiel and Freqmind establish a relentless Techno direction built around repetitive percussion and tightly controlled tension. David Schirmeiste, Francesco Conti and El Brujo's remix of Gianni Piras keep that pressure intact, while Lowerzone and Timebandit draw the programme further into its darker underground character.
Tito K., Patrick Dandoczi and Dyno continue the first hour before Bastian Bux's "Ocho" brings the stronger drive of Peak Time Techno, with the EI8HT release classified in that peak-time tradition. Patrick Steiner and K-Deey's remix of Miss Nala then complete Francesco Conti's section with the same forceful club emphasis, leaving a clear dividing line before the second-hour change of direction.
Pier Giorgio Marini opens with Harry Romero's remix of DJ S.K.T and Iris Gold's "4AM In London", immediately turning the programme towards House Music and a warmer vocal groove. Tommyboy, Superlover and Angelo Ferreri with James Deron and Danmic’s continue that transition before The Cube Guys' remix of Earth n Days and Seamus Haji with Mike Dunn bring funk and disco influences into an increasingly celebratory middle section.
CASSIM with Leela D, Milk & Sugar, Robert Cruz and Mattei & Omich keep the latter stages centred on vocal hooks, rolling basslines and Funky House energy, with Milk & Sugar's "Funky Music" adding an explicit Nu Disco turn. Saison's remix of Soulmagic closes the episode with Deep House warmth, completing a programme that moves decisively from Francesco Conti's driving techno into Pier Giorgio Marini's funkier and more soulful house selection.
