Ezmun has announced the tracklist for episode 18 of Cooking With Gas on Scientific Sound Asia. The platform operates as an English-language underground electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music news publisher serving local and expatriate audiences across Asia.
Cooking With Gas is Ezmun’s weekly outlet for percussive, groove-led and darker electronic music. Episode 18 features grime, dubstep, garage, leftfield bass and half-time Techno, with much of the selection centred on the 140 BPM range.
The programme draws heavily from UK underground bass music and places weight on rhythm, low frequencies and sharp percussion. Ezmun uses changes in pace and intensity to connect the different styles throughout the show.
Originally from Cumbria in the United Kingdom, Ezmun later relocated to Vietnam to develop his work as a DJ and producer. He began mixing at home before progressing to house parties with friends and collaborators.
That early experience led to club appearances across Manchester, Hanoi, Laos and Ho Chi Minh City by 2019. These performances introduced his bass-focused selections to audiences in both Europe and Southeast Asia.
The global pandemic later led to a temporary move to Melbourne, where Ezmun continued broadcasting Cooking With Gas each week. The programme allowed him to share new music while retaining his connection with the underground electronic community in Asia.
His sets are shaped by minimal half-time rhythms, heavy bass and irregular percussive patterns. He combines these elements within an energetic club format built around tension, impact and changes in momentum.
While based in Australia, Ezmun remained connected to the artists, DJs and listeners he had worked with across Asia. He also continued developing his production skills with the aim of releasing original music.
Cooking With Gas provides Ezmun with a regular platform for his own selections and musical ideas. The show also introduces emerging artists, close collaborators and darker strains of contemporary underground bass music.
DJ Ezmun opens Cooking With Gas Episode 18 with Stagga and Magugu before Pugilist and Pearson Sound introduce the broken rhythms of Breaks. Wookie follows with the UK Garage track “Stargate,” while Yak adds Breakbeat through “Don Greno.”
Dizz1 brings Dubstep into the programme with “Decay,” followed by Sudanim’s Bass Music cut “Midrift.” Wallwork and Luru then supply the first Peak Time Techno entry before Esther, Dizzee Rascal and Lokane move through bass, trap and club-focused material.
Walton begins the strongest genre sequence with “SBWYS,” bringing together deep dubstep and Grime influences. Mumdance and Novelist add Electronica, while Mele briefly introduces House Music before Walton returns with “Smashed Crabs.”
Commodo, Pinch with Kahn and Killa’s Army, J, Kwizma and Rufus! form a dense middle section built around dubstep, grime and 140 BPM production. Perverse follows with “Tribute,” before Arkwright, Sepia, Alix Perez and N-Type with Lost extend the low-frequency focus through Wheel & Deal, 1985 Music and related labels.
Girls Revenge, Rebekah and Death Abyss bring the closing section back to techno, with Lag’s remix of “Beneath The Surface” placed between two Rodz-Konez releases. Scuba ends Episode 18 with “Buzzsaw,” returning to breaks for the final track.
