8U8A's Global Bass 11 was scheduled for broadcast on Scientific Sound Asia on 16 August 2019. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform.
8U8A, hailing from Russia, began his musical career in 2004 as a DnB and Jungle MC, initially performing as a vocalist in three different bands. By 2007, he had decided to combine DJing and MCing, building a collection of bass music from around the globe.
His early exploration focused on dubstep, grime and garage, genres that resonated with his artistic vision. In 2011, 8U8A discovered tropical global bass, expanding his collection to encompass Baile Funk, Moombahton, Kuduro, Dancehall, Dembow, Cumbia, Trap, Jersey Club, Footwork, Jungle and numerous other subgenres.
In 2014, driven by a desire for adventure and to share his music collection, 8U8A travelled across Southeast Asia, performing in Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. His performances introduced his selections to audiences throughout the region and established his place in the underground scene.
Global Bass 11 opens with DubApe's Trapped on Encrypted Audio, followed by Quasar's Dub Speech and Quasar and Haze's Oops from Artikal Music UK, setting out brooding low-end deep dubstep textures. Jack Sparrow's Phat Alf, High Fidelity, Computer World and Kaleidadope, all on Deep Medi Musik, develop the sparse pressure before Unity Rock featuring Silkie joins the run.
Caspa's Get Higher, 33 Degrees and Venom on Sub Soldiers bring a heavier dubstep section, while Kryo's Bottles and Coop on White Peach Records keep the emphasis on weight and space. LIL FISH then supplies Theory, Burning Forest and Origines from Gravitas Recordings, moving the selection towards Dance Music.
XotiX's Fractals precedes Illustrated's Alchemy on Gravitas Recordings, returning the programme to dubstep before kLL sMTH's Studda Steppin Master. We Got This bring halftime pacing with Onset on We Got This Music, and Zipse's Relax Its A Panic Attack from the same label introduces Electronica.
Ethan Glass's Voodoo People on Saturate!Records turns towards drum and bass, with Duke & Jones and Lucchii's Deception on Barong Family providing a contrasting electronic cut. Chase & Status follow with Program featuring Irah, Disaster and Shut Up featuring Suku on EMI, before Yatuza's Spliff Riddim, The Wobbler, Evil Wayz and Bits on Grid Recordings UK deepen the pace.
Russian Jump Up Mafia's Hooly on FUM leads into Current Value's City Syndrome on Souped Up Records and DNA and Different Path on Invisible, followed by SASASAS's Rampage Anthem VIP on Radar Records. SVDDEN DEATH's Rise in the Aweminus Remix on Create Music Group briefly returns to dubstep, then Current Value's Of Truth and Impact (VIP) give way to DJ Hybrid's Watch This and Upside Down with My Selecta on Serial Killaz.
The closing stretch also includes DJ EXPIRED YOGURT's Mambo Number 555, giving the final passage an unpredictable turn after the high-speed drum and bass material. It closes on a meeting point between bass weight, jungle energy and grime detail.
