Bicycle Corporation present Roots 103 with guest DJ Herb Cabral on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Bicycle Corporation is the Italian collaboration between DJ and producer Marco MEI and Stefano Ugliano, also known as 6884. During the early 1990s, Marco began his musical path as a DJ and producer and helped run events across Italy with the Urban People crew.
His work brought recognition, a residency at Pacha and international DJ bookings that took him around the world. Marco is now based in Taipei, works across a wider South East Asian network and is available for bookings through the DJ agency.
He also broadcasts weekly through Scientific Sound Asia’s radio station. Stefano was born and raised in Torino, Italy, where he showed an aptitude for music from childhood.
He studied classical piano, percussion and drums with dedication, drawing inspiration from Chopin and the West African djembe. As a teenager, the figure of the DJ working a crowd became increasingly compelling to him.
The electronic beats that were difficult to find on Italian radio during the 1990s suggested a new direction, one that ultimately led to Bicycle Corporation. Together, Marco and Stefano bring their respective experience in DJing, production and musicianship to the project.

This weeks guest DJ is Herb Cabral, Herb is a DJ and music producer from Manila, Philippines. Herb is part of a small cluster of house music and techno artists in the capital Manila including Deepgroove Collective, Footprints, Movement Sound System, Elements and Konnekt.
Being a part of these groups provide creative collaborations to keep Manila's scene robust and provide connection to the international scene. Before the pandemic, Herb has been a regular fixture in Manila's house and techno joints, bars and clubs along Poblacion, Makati like Topic, Nokal and XXX and in BGC districts like Chotto Matte and Reserve.
His last international music festival gig was at Epizode 4 in Phu Quoc, Vietnam in December 2019. Some of his original productions and remixes have been released by House and Techno labels such as Asia Music (Southeast Asia),Sayaw Records (PH) Funktrap Records (USA), Frameworkxx Records (The Netherlands), Berlin After Dark (USA), Jumpstereo (UK) and Celestial Records (UK). This months show features House, Melodic Techno, Afro House and one of his tracks.
DJ Herb Cabral opens Roots Episode 103 with Tale Of Us and Vaal’s “Monument,” a Melodic House and Techno release from Afterlife. Florian Kruse and Hendrik Burkhard follow before Themba’s “Who Is Themba?” brings the programme directly into Afro House.
AbysSoul and Sio’s “Words” receives Osunlade’s Yoruba Soul Mix, another track originally classified as Afro house, before TheGround, Florian Kruse and Hendrik Burkhard continue the deeper house direction. Radio Slave then precedes Kora’s “Vayu,” an Organic House release that introduces a warmer and more spacious section of the set.
Herb Cabral contributes his own “The Refugee” before Jaydee, Sascha Braemer and Honey Dijon with Tim K take the programme through different house and electronic forms. Rampa’s remix of “Thunda” was classified as melodic house and techno on its original Classic Music Company release, fitting the melodic emphasis that runs through this middle section.
DJ Koze’s extended version of “Pick Up” shifts the programme towards disco-rooted House Music, with the label describing the version as a filter-disco record. &ME and Apollonia follow before Kora returns with “Fragile,” a confirmed Deep House release from Earthly Delights.
Loui & Scibi precede Peter Matson’s “Roma Norte” in Jimpster’s remix, which Beatport classifies as Electronica. Rampa then supplies “Necessity,” whose original Innervisions release is listed as deep house, before GunBee and Merachka bring Terrence Parker into the closing stretch.
Martin Kremser closes Roots Episode 103 with “Bothies,” completing a Herb Cabral selection that moves principally through deep house, melodic house and techno, Afro house, organic house and broader house music. The genre range is notably wider than a conventional deep-house set, but those related house forms remain the strongest thread from the opening Tale Of Us track through the final selections.
