DJ Joshua presents Floating Beats and Velvety Elements on Scientific Sound Asia, bringing together the two programmes documented in these track lists. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
DJ Joshua, whose real name is Joshua Mar, is an electronic music connoisseur based in Portugal with an extensive library of music. His collection covers diverse styles, with a particular fondness for Techno.
His passion for electronic music blossomed in the early 1990s alongside the rise of Portugal’s rave scene. He shared his enthusiasm on local radio and organised events, recognising music’s power to build community and becoming a leading figure in the scene.
After a period devoted to raising a family, DJ Joshua returned to music and launched Floating Beats as a weekly radio show. The programme has earned recognition globally.
DJ Joshua says, "Music is an art form," he reflects. "It’s the fusion of elements that can convey emotions and make the body move. This is a place where you hear sounds that can float and end up falling onto your body... Enjoy it.”
In the first hour, Floating Beats moves through Techno and House rhythms, with flashes of tech house. DP-6, Darius Syrossian, Olav Basoski and H2H, the partnership of Chez Damier and Bem Vedren, all feature in the selection.
Velvety Elements provides a sophisticated change of pace through deep house, tech house and minimal techno. Nnatn Keep, Clive From Accounts and Forteba contribute intricate melodies, firm beats and hypnotic grooves.
Floating Beats opens with DP-6’s Solar Sail before Darius Syrossian’s Harlem Lights on MOXY MUZIK and Ron Costa’s Twisted on Sola establish a Tech House foundation. Goras follows with Road To Space on Odd Pleasures, while Sascha Sonido’s Feel Good on Ole White brings in Deep Tech House detail.
Viviana Casanova’s Piscis on Vassnova turns the first hour towards Peak Time Techno. Charlie Banks answers with Dance With Me on PIV, returning the mix to Deep Tech House.
Radiorobotek’s extended 10 AM on Re:vibe Audio keeps the Peak Time Techno pressure in place before Olav Basoski’s Whispers on Armada Music changes the emphasis. That record introduces House Music to the hour with a more open rhythmic feel.
Avision’s Feelin’ You and H2H’s Berlin Nights In Paris in the Taho Remix complete the Floating Beats sequence. Their placement leaves the first programme between the firmer earlier cuts and the warmer direction of Velvety Elements.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements begins with Madvilla’s Takeout on Locus and DJ VKTR’s The Beat on CrackHouse Recordings. The pair brings Deep Tech House and Tech House into the opening of the later programme.
Intr0beatz’s Low Temperature on Cosmic Angles and Tony Lionni’s Native Soul on wewillalwaysbealovesong move the selection into Deep House. Both records give the middle of Velvety Elements a more spacious, measured character.
What U Mean’s Looking Good appears before Forteba’s Time On Time on Plastic City returns to Deep House. Scope’s Hypnotize Me then leads into Javonntte’s Bjazz House on Frole Records.
Mission Control’s Outta Limits in the Shelter Mix on Esoteric Records brings in the raw DJ-set character identified for the later section, before Tête de la Course and Paul Rudder’s Makin’ The Magic on Dikso Records introduces Indie Dance. Danny Tape’s Keep Movin closes the programme with the looser club focus established across Velvety Elements.
