DJ Joshua, whose real name is Joshua Mar, comes from Évora, Portugal, and is a committed electronic-music fan. His extensive collection of vinyl records and digital tracks demonstrates that commitment.
His DJ career is informed by an affection for electronic-music genres such as Techno, House, Drum and Bass, and Chillout. In the 1990s, he was active in Portugal's rave culture despite resistance to the unconventional style of rave music at the time.
Joshua persisted with community-radio programmes and event organisation, gaining recognition locally and internationally. After a brief hiatus to focus on family matters, he returned to music by launching his radio shows.
Floating Beats brings together several electronic styles and features artists including Argy, Diego Krause, Jon Hester and Ejeca. The programme provides an engaging mix of Techno and House music.
In its second hour, Velvety Elements explores the soulful side of Deep House through artists including Juarez, Platzdasch & Dix, Franck Roger and Jovonn. The programme draws attention to the emotional depth and complexity of Deep House music.

Ejeca's Kolide on Dance Trax shifts the first hour towards Peak Time Techno, while Squal G's X Form appears in the Laurent Maldo featuring Mike Anderson remix. Jon Hester then returns with Dreamstate on Rekids, restoring the deeper house emphasis.
Gregor Tresher's Pariah on Cocoon Recordings raises the techno pressure before James Solace's Ghost Town on Last Night On Earth introduces Melodic House and Techno. That contrast gives the opening programme both club weight and a more melodic passage.
Arnaud Le Texier's Shades on Warg Records, Shlomi Aber's Solarium on Be As One and Rob Strobe's Serve Greatness on Motech Records occupy the Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) section. DJ T-1000's Tighten Up precedes Ian O'Donovan and Luca Gaeta's Lost Light on 100% Pure, closing Floating Beats with peak-time techno.
In the second hour, Velvety Elements begins with Juarez's What I Do on Motive Records and the Henrik Villard remix of Platzdasch & Dix's En Plein Air on Feedasoul Records. Both records establish the warmer Deep House direction of the programme.
Franck Roger and Jovonn's Remember appears in the Rocco Rodamaal remix, followed by B From E's You Will See on Tartelet Records. HUGEhands' Ohh What! on Smashing Trax Records keeps the hour rooted in Deep House.
Nse's Every Now And Then leads into X-Press 2's London Underground Mix of Say What! on Acid Jazz Records. The latter adds a direct House Music touch to the second-hour selection.
DJ Honesty's Losoul remix of Moment on Bass Culture Records is followed by Luís Bravo's Go Funk Yourself on Piston Recordings and Melodymann's How Did I Get There on House Salad Music. Powder Productions' Future on Glasgow Underground and Javonntte's Bjazz House bring Velvety Elements to its final deep-house passages.
