The Lab Sessions present Assemble episode 16 with guest DJs Gutz and Ksenia Pavlova on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Originating from Bogotá, Colombia, The Lab Sessions is an electronic music collective presenting showcases and large-scale events. Its work focuses on an authentic, forward-looking representation of Colombia’s underground electronic music culture.
Alongside its events, TLS presents artistic programming for an international audience of local followers and listeners from different nationalities. The collective demonstrates that underground music is shaped not only by international artists, but also by Colombian DJs and producers with distinct creative identities.
Active since 2016, The Lab Sessions has organised and hosted events across South America, with performances at respected venues and clubs. These include Octava, Klan 31, Teatron, KAPUTT, Vagabond, Bud-X Colombia, Top Secret Medellín, Armando Records, Céntrico, Mambo Alive, Sutton, Montibus Fest, Bassline events, TLS Parties, Euro Techno, Madame Garden and La Fabryka in Cali, Victoria, Masha, Vlak and Lede Club, as well as Groove and Dirty Sanchez in Quito, Ecuador.
Guest DJ Guzt (first hour)
This week’s first guest DJ is Guzt, a Colombian DJ and producer born in 1993 in Barranquilla whose musical journey bridges formal training and explorative club-driven expression. His fascination with music began at an early age when he began playing classical piano at eleven, laying a foundation in musicality that informed his later work in electronic music.
In 2014 he began exploring the broader landscape of underground electronic sounds, embracing production and DJing as extensions of his sensory and creative curiosity. Over time, this led to performances at venues across Colombia, helping to establish him as an emerging presence within the national scene.
As a DJ and live performer, Guzt has shared stages with both national and international artists including Claptone, Marc Houle, Dennis Cruz, Guti, Leyouth and Seff. His sets have appeared at prominent venues such as Salón Amador in Medellín, Baum Club and Armando Records in Bogotá, Victoria Club in Barranquilla and Mute Club in Cartagena, reflecting a wide engagement with Colombia’s club culture.
In the studio, Guzt’s music has been released on respected underground labels. His track People Don’t Stop appeared on Hot Vibe On Records, affirming his presence on international digital outlets, while his remix of On You was published on Baikonur Recordings.
These releases capture his affinity for driving rhythms and textural detail, anchoring his sound within House and related forms while retaining a distinctive melodic signature. Looking ahead, Guzt continues to develop new material and collaborations, extending a trajectory that moves between performance, production and deep engagement with the wider underground community.
Guest DJ Ksenia Pavlova (second hour)
This week’s second guest DJ is Ksenia Pavlova, an emerging selector from Kyiv, Ukraine, and based in Spain, whose approach to electronic music is rooted in depth, control and long-form storytelling. Her relationship with music began early, shaped by exposure to a wide range of sounds and rhythmic structures.
Over time, her focus settled firmly within the underground, drawing inspiration from Tech House, Techno, Minimal and Deep Tech. These influences continue to inform a sound that prioritises groove, tension and subtle progression over short-term impact.
Ksenia’s sets are built as immersive journeys rather than isolated moments. Pulsing low-end, restrained melodic elements and carefully layered rhythms combine to create a focused atmosphere that keeps dancers engaged from start to finish. Whether performing in intimate spaces or club environments, her selections are guided by flow, patience and a strong sense of musical balance.
Beyond the local scene, Ksenia Pavlova has steadily expanded her reach through international appearances and guest mixes, earning recognition for her ability to blend styles seamlessly while maintaining a clear underground identity. Her performances reflect confidence, precision and a deep understanding of dancefloor dynamics.
Rather than relying on image or trend, Ksenia stands out through musical interpretation and control. Her ability to connect different shades of electronic music into a coherent narrative has made her a compelling presence behind the decks, marking her as an artist to watch as her journey continues.
Assemble episode 16 with Gutz in the first hour opens in Deep Tech House territory through Gringow’s More Desire on Urban Midi Records and Bodeler & Saenz’s Blumpted on Constant Black. NiCe7 and Leon (Italy) then bring the Deep House shade of Serge Devant’s remix of Please Don’t Leave, issued by Crosstown Rebels.
Paul Haro’s Wait A Minute on Lemon-Aid Music, Jesse Maas’s Litmus remix of Aura on Moan and Beau (UK)’s Have Mercy on Solid Groove Raw keep the early deep-tech focus in place. Guti’s Telling The Truth on Cuttin’ Headz and Rone White & Rowen Clark’s Burn on Time Has Changed Records introduce Tech House.
Mihai Popoviciu and Markus Homm’s Nick Curly remix of Follower for Kenja Records returns to Deep Tech House before Dosem’s Energy Source on Truesoul shifts into Progressive House. HULST’s Epitome on Whoyostro and Hoods’ DJOKO remix of In Reverse on MOAN restore the tighter club pressure.
In the second hour by Ksenia Pavlova Golfos bring their Salsa Mix of Jenny Is Dancing on GOLFO TRAXX before Josh Butler’s Keep It Hot on Solid Grooves Records sharpens the Tech House pace. Damian Lazarus’s Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs remix of Holy on Crosstown Rebels adds Melodic House and Techno to the programme’s centre.
Ron Costa’s Pisah on Sola, Iwo Balkanski’s Wine Up on Dirtyclub Music and Wyatt Marshall’s Another Redundant Question on DIRTYBIRD keep the set rooted in Tech House. Ki Creighton’s Luigi Rocca and Rude (IT) remix of Rollercoaster for 303Lovers gives way to Yo Speed’s Got It Bad, which brings in Breaks.
Seb Zen, Andre UIO and Defiet’s Hot Sun on Sagmen, Ramon Bedoya’s It Low on Under No Illusion and Rafa Barrios’s Randell on Mindshake Records return to Tech House. Roof Rats’ Work That Body on Potobolo Records and Monococ’s Control on VapourTrail Records raise the intensity with Peak Time Techno, while Marco C.’s No Pain No Gain on Criminal Hype closes on House Music.
