The Lab Sessions announced the guest DJ and playlists for Assemble episode 13 on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia is an electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music-news platform serving expatriate and local audiences across India, Japan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, the Philippines and the wider Asian region.
The Lab Sessions is an electronic music collective based in Bogotá, Colombia, formed around collaboration, cultural exchange and long-term scene building. Through curated radio showcases and large-scale events, TLS has worked steadily to present an authentic and changing representation of Colombia’s underground electronic music scene to both local and international audiences.
Alongside this curatorial focus, the collective places strong emphasis on artistic quality and inclusivity. Their work addresses a diverse audience made up of residents, expatriates and visitors of many nationalities, reinforcing the idea that forward-thinking electronic music is shaped not only by artists working abroad, but also by Colombian DJs and producers with strong creative identity and potential.
Active since 2016, The Lab Sessions has developed a consistent presence across South America, hosting events and performances in a wide range of respected clubs and alternative venues. Their activity includes appearances at Octava, Klan 31, Teatron, KAPUTT, Vagabond, Bud-X Colombia, Top Secret Medellín, Armando Records, Céntrico, Mambo Alive, Sutton and Montibus Fest, alongside independent platforms such as Bassline events, TLS Parties and Eurotechno.
By 2020, the collective had extended its regional activity to cities including Cali and Quito, with appearances at venues such as Madame Garden, La Fabryka, Groove and Dirty Sanchez. Assemble episode 13 brought together The Lab Sessions’ curatorial vision, regional experience and commitment to underground electronic music culture on Scientific Sound Asia.
Guest DJ Marsii (first hour)
This week’s first guest DJ is Marsii, a Finnish DJ and selector based in Barcelona, whose sound is rooted firmly in Progressive House and long-form melodic storytelling. Music has been part of her life since childhood, influenced early on by her father, a singer.
During her teenage years, she gravitated toward electronic music, with ATB’s The Silence acting as a key turning point. Further inspiration followed through artists such as Armin van Buuren and Roger Shah, setting the foundations for her interest in emotionally driven electronic sound.
A defining moment came in the summer of 2006 through Armin van Buuren’s On The Beach series, which sparked her first ambition to create electronic music herself. While her early listening leaned toward Trance and melodic forms, her direction became more clearly defined in 2017 when she discovered Progressive House. From that point, her sound evolved into a groove-led and hypnotic style, built around rolling basslines, restrained tension and melodic depth.
Her influences today sit firmly within the progressive house underground, drawing inspiration from artists such as Cid Inc, Brian Cid and Jerome Isma-Ae. These references are reflected in her approach to DJing, which prioritises flow, narrative and gradual development rather than short-form peaks.
Since 2018, Marsii has hosted her own podcast series, ALPTH – A Little (Progressive) Trip To Heaven, which continues to serve as a platform for her musical vision and for like-minded artists within the progressive scene. The series reflects her commitment to consistency and long-term development rather than trend-driven output.
She is currently a resident DJ at online station RTS FM and remains active in Barcelona through Uniter, her Progressive House event brand launched in 2020. The project focuses on intimate club experiences and community-led programming, reinforcing her connection to the local underground while maintaining an international outlook.
Marsii’s guest appearance brings a melodic, groove-focused progressive perspective to the broadcast, shaped by patience, emotional control and a clear dedication to the deeper end of electronic music.
Guest DJ Yamile Kouri (second hour)
This week’s second guest DJ is Yamille Kouri, a Peruvian DJ whose musical path reflects a long-standing engagement with both performance and international club culture. Born and raised in Peru to parents of Lebanese descent, Yamille’s relationship with music began early.
From the age of twelve, she studied and played a range of instruments, including electro-acoustic guitar, percussion and piano, developing a broad musical foundation that later informed her approach to electronic music and DJing. Her entry into the electronic scene came in 2009, with early performances at the Thunderbird Hotel in Lima.
From there, she steadily expanded her presence across clubs, bars and festival settings, appearing at events such as Sound In The Park, Wasted, Summerlove and DJ Night Fuerza Bruta. These early years helped establish her as a versatile selector with the ability to adapt across different environments while maintaining musical coherence.
Yamille’s career has since developed on an international level. She has performed at venues including Wet Deck and Good Life Bar in Ibiza, NH Casa Suecia Rooftop in Madrid, Blind Pig Miami, Coyo Taco Wynwood, Hotel South Beach Miami and Firestone in Orlando.
In South America -nd Europe, her appearances include Levitar Club in Buenos Aires and Chantier Interdit in Paris, reinforcing her connection to a wide network of underground and open-format club spaces. Within Peru, she remains closely linked to the local scene, with performances at recognised venues such as Bizarro, Gótica, Aura, Circus Arequipa and others.
Across these settings, her DJ work reflects a balance between musical discipline and dancefloor awareness, shaped by years of experience and a background rooted in live instrumentation. Yamille Kouri’s guest appearance brings an internationally informed perspective to the broadcast, grounded in rhythm, versatility and a long-term dedication to electronic music culture.
The Lab Sessions’ Assemble episode 13 radio show opens with Marsi playing Don Longton’s All One in a Breaks remix from Mistique Music. Replicanth, Ismaehl, Burgundy and Pancho’s 10 000 Miles on Asymmetric Recordings brings in Organic House, before Jonas Zstimer’s Joy Marquez remix of Universal Thoughts on Rpo Records introduces Progressive House.
KSTP’s Beginning on Manual Music adds Melodic House and Techno to the early stretch. Max Freegrant and Ivan Aliaga’s The Space Girl on Freegrant Music, followed by Forty Cats’ Duality on Skytop, keeps the progressive house focus in place.
Robert Babicz’s Jerome Isma-ae remix of One Mind on Jee Productions is followed by D.J. MacIntyre’s Francisco Castro and Derk remix of The Great Simoon on SLC-6 Music, returning to breaks. Rick Pier O’Neil’s X’ Batun on Freegrant Music and LOM’s Infinite Love on Plattenbank lead into Mental Order and Tim Othy’s Cantina on Clubsonica Records.
In the second hour with Yamile, Kerouac & Smile’s Shifting Down on Sustain and Rossi.’s Keriythm on No Art establish the more stripped-back Deep Tech House section. DIMMISH’s Spacey on No Art, Demarzo and Chris Stussy’s Paragon on PIV, and Tommy Vercetti and Florence Bird’s Prunk remix of In The Groove on Uncanny sustain that later club-focused direction.
ANOTR’s Keep On Breathing on Origins Rcrds brings in Deep House. Only Slave Nation’s Juliche Hernandez remix of Wormhole on Djebali and ANOTR and Toman’s Gamba Roja on Moan Recordings return the selection to deep tech house.
Jesse Maas’ Planet 34 on PIV gives the closing stretch another deep house moment. Ben Rau’s Metatrack on Inkal finishes the programme with deep tech house.
