Esher presents episode 02 of Alternative Method on Scientific Sound Asia, featuring guest DJ Cru Kza. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, promoter, DJ agency and music news platform connecting audiences across Asia and internationally.
Esher comes from northern Melbourne, Australia, where he has developed his skills in music production and DJing over several years. His background spans Trance, Techno, Dubstep and Drum and Bass, giving him a broad base for both studio work and DJ sets.
Artists including Mad Zach, Ivy Lab, Noisia and Imanu have influenced his approach to production and mixing. He incorporates those references into his own material, with particular attention to atmosphere, bass weight and detailed drum programming.
His DJ sets combine different electronic styles through careful arrangement and changes in pace. Expansive textures, strong low frequencies and intricate percussion remain central features of his selections.
Esher has since moved beyond his earlier plans for a first label release and established a growing catalogue of Drum and Bass productions. His recent work includes collaborations with Nemean and Extra Dollop through BrainRave Music and Abyssal Music.
In 2025, Esher and Extra Dollop released Cryo and Nosedive through Abyssal Music. Both tracks placed his production work firmly within Drum and Bass and marked an important step in the development of his recorded output.
His collaboration with Nemean followed through BrainRave Music with Juncture and Everything Black. These releases expanded his catalogue further and confirmed the progression from developing producer to an artist with music appearing through established labels.
Alongside production, Esher continues to use DJing as a way to test new ideas and strengthen his technical skills. Alternative Method provides a regular platform for new mixes, emerging music and interaction with listeners interested in the deeper and more experimental edges of bass-driven electronic music.
The programme also creates room for guest DJs such as Cru Kza to bring their own perspective to the series. Episode 02 therefore combines Esher’s developing production identity with a guest contribution that broadens the musical scope of Alternative Method.
Guest DJ Cru Kza (first 45 minutes).
Cru Kza comes from Melbourne, Australia, where he has built experience through performances across the city’s underground electronic music scene. His work as a DJ is centred on bass-heavy selections, strong rhythmic movement and a melodic approach to club music.
His sets are characterised by deep basslines, harmonic detail and a steady sense of momentum. These elements give his performances a distinct identity while allowing him to move between different shades of underground electronic music.
Cru Kza also incorporates his own productions into his DJ sets, adding original material alongside tracks from other artists. This gives listeners a clearer sense of his work as a producer as well as his approach behind the decks.
His selections are structured to maintain flow and energy across a full set rather than relying on abrupt changes in style. Whether performing in smaller clubs or larger event settings, Cru Kza focuses on rhythm, atmosphere and continuity throughout his mixes.
This guest appearance provides an introduction to the sound he has developed through Melbourne’s underground circuit. His combination of original productions and carefully chosen tracks gives the mix a personal character while keeping the emphasis firmly on the dancefloor.
Cru Kza opens Alternative Method 02 with Kamaal Williams before Client_03 and Daphni introduce a mixture of broken rhythms, electronic experimentation and House Music. Peggy Gou and the Curious House Mix of A Tribe Called Quest’s “Bonita Applebum” keep the opening section playful before Slug Father, Tomas Asesio and DJOKO move the set deeper into club territory.
Freiboitar and DJOKO lead into Austin Ato before Martin Ikin and Sammy Porter bring a stronger Tech House pulse with “Back To Funk.” Cru Kza then enters with “Cheques,” followed by Disclosure’s “ENERGY” and Jholeyson, keeping the first 45 minutes lively and rhythmically varied.
Frits Wentink with DJ Boring, Detroit Swindle and Mtty shift the set towards deeper and looser house before DJOKO returns with “Let You Go.” Cru Kza’s “Turismo,” Tibi Dabo and Kassian then bridge into a more melodic closing stretch, with Macromism’s ANNA remix and Lilly Palmer adding a firmer techno edge.
Baltra, Route 8 and Slipmode round out Cru Kza’s section before “Softwaves,” produced with STVXX, closes the first part on a softer electronic note. Across the opening 45 minutes, house remains the main thread but funk, broken beats and techno keep the selection broad enough to suit the Alternative Method name.
Esher changes the mood immediately with Kiasmos’ “Swept” in the Tale Of Us remix, pushing into Melodic House and Techno and more cinematic electronic textures. Kiasmos’ “Thrown,” DJ Koze with Apparat and Rival Consoles deepen that atmosphere before MPathy, Ran Salman and Lunar Plane begin pulling the set towards progressive territory.
K.A.L.I.L, Nick Devon, Soul Button and Dizharmonia occupy the middle of Esher’s section, where Progressive House and deeper melodic material dominate. Dahu, Jobe and Binaryh continue that direction before Jon Hopkins’ “Collider” injects a sharper electronic intensity into the final third.
Nick Devon returns before Lumo and Dahu lead into Pan-Pot’s “Sleepless” in Stephan Bodzin’s remix, one of the strongest techno moments in Esher’s 75 minutes. David August’s “Epikur” then eases the pressure before Jon Hopkins’ “Vessel” in Four Tet’s remix closes the programme with a more spacious and introspective finish.
